The Company:
Our major oil and gas client is seeking a Civil Structural Engineer for a one to two year opportunity in West Houston.

The Role:
Responsibilities:
Provide technical expertise in Civil and Structural engineering, including Geotechnical, Coastal Marine engineering to enable Projects & Technology to deliver competitive services and projects for our customers.
Carry out or coordinate Civil and Structural engineering activities for the purpose of concept evaluation, concept definition (FEED), detailed design or construction.
Support customers with technical advice, best practices and competitive global standards to enable top quartile operating performance.
Enable company to deliver all development projects by executing project activities, including conceptual design, FEED Design, Detailed Design, Construction, Installation.
Perform Quality Assurance and Control reviews to ensure the technical integrity, constructability, functionality and reliability of the design product.
Provide input to the development of project execution contracting strategies that complement designs, construction methods and operating methods.
Manage outsourced work to Engineering Consultants and Contractors.
Provide CSO Engineering technical input to business development groups in the Identification, Assessment & Selection of new business opportunities, sustaining the group as the recognized entry point for such service.
Identify new technology to overcome new business challenges (e.g. harsh environments); working with R&D to formulate project proposals, define scope of work and participate in developing technical solutions.
Contribute to the update of Standards, Tools and Guidelines within own area of expertise.
Contribute to the Pre-FEED and FEED estimating efforts by developing sketches, performing preliminary engineering, and material take offs for +/- 10% and +/- 20% estimates.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Requirements:
1. Applicants should have a Civil Engineering B Sc or M Sc degree, or equivalent with a minimum of 12 years experience.
2. Applicants should have increasing knowledge of Civil & Structural Engineering including Coastal Marine and Geotechnical engineering as applied in the Oil & Gas Industry. Technical competencies shall include:-
a. Experience of using U.S. and international Civil, Structural, Marine and Geotechnical codes and standards used in the oil and gas processing industry.
b. Ability to design and specify civil structures, with a strong knowledge of steel & concrete technology.
c. Capability to design coastal marine facilities such as jetties, breakwaters and loading systems.
d. Specify and manage Onshore or Offshore Geotechnical Investigation and foundations design.
e. Contribution to the development (R&D) of new CSO engineering approaches with particular emphasis on projects in more challenging areas – Floating LNG, Arctic or high seismicity pro
