The Company:
Our client is a Major International EPC Company executing industrial mega-projects in Canada.

This opportunity is open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents only. First consideration will be given to residents of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Role:
The Senior Civil Engineer has the responsibility and commensurate authority for the design and the review of submissions during the construction of the powerhouse complex and related facilities of the Project.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare all technical documentation as required and be responsible for review of contractor submission to ensure they meet the project requirements.
• Design completion and review of civil concrete, reinforcing and structural steel.
• Review, comment and acceptance of Contractors’ submissions and installation drawings.
• Review of rebar bending lists.
• Support during construction, including review of design submissions and quality reports.
• Related work on interfaces with Mechanical and Electrical disciplines for coordination of construction of structures and installation of Balance of Plant systems.

Review and be familiar with, and prepare as required, technical documentation for structural and structural engineering work, including, but not limited to:
• General layout drawings
• Design criteria
• Preliminary studies
• Value engineering studies
• Standard specifications
• Standard detail drawings
• Construction and/or fabrication drawings
• Equipment lists
• Technical specifications
• As-built drawings

OTHER DUTIES:
• Manage and coordinate the progress of the civil engineering work in accordance with the project scope, schedule and procedures.
• Review shop drawings to ensure conformity with engineering designs.
• After the award of contracts and purchase orders as instructed, monitor the construction work to ensure that it is executed in accordance with the engineering design

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The applicants resume must clearly demonstrate that they have the following:
• Bachelor of Applied Science degree in civil engineering.
• Registration or eligible for immediate registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador.
