The Role:
Carmon Creek CPF- Project Engineer- Drainage & Storm Water Management
Location: Calgary, AB., Alberta, Canada

Currently seeking Project Engineer for the Carmon Creek Project, in our Calgary, Alberta location.

Background: The Carmon Creek (CCP1/2) project covers the first two phases of a multi-phase expansion of the existing Peace River heavy oil asset. The project scope comprises a Central Processing Facility (CPF) with two trains of 40,000 bpd including electrical power and steam generation facilities (CoGen), associated infrastructure, distribution and gathering facilities, well pads, distribution and gathering systems and the drilling of over 7,000 vertical wells.
The purpose of the position is to manage CPF drainage system and storm water management project deliverables. The Project Engineer will lead the development of work plans, executing contract, procurement strategies and integrate scope definition for drainage and water management projects from the Engineering Phase – through Construction (Execution phase).

• Produce project management deliverables pertaining to drainage systems and storm water management projects: open drain (OD) system, closed hazardous drain (CHD) system and runoff water system as specified in the Project Assurance Plan and Basis for Design.
• Assist with the selection of sourcing strategies, vendors and/or contractors, working across the CPF to execute contracts efficiency and effectively.
• Proactively deal with activities and close issues associated with Project planning, scheduling, forecasting, monitoring and controlling project objective and deliverables.
• Expedite and review Contractor/vendor schedules and Owner’s schedules for compliance, and incorporate into Master Schedule.
• Report any schedule deviations and recommend corrective actions.
• Providing input into weekly and monthly reports: (narratives, schedule updates, forecasting, trend analysis and corrective action)
• Estimate, tender bid documents, bid evaluations ready for award of Execute phase contracts
• Understand and manage HSE and Quality assurance responsibilities related to specific areas and scope, including both process safety and operational/ personal safety management.
• Actively demonstrate support for the corporate position on Sustainable Development, safety, health, environment, diversity, respectful workplace and the General Business Principles and Code of Ethics.

• Seconded to CPF owners team, strong leadership and relationship building skills, and proven demonstration to manage contractors and/or vendors.

Professional qualifications:
• Skills- drainage system design philosophy for Industrial Plants, preferable Oil & Gas related- (open drain (OD) system, closed hazardous drain (CHD) system and runoff water system)
• Full understanding of servicing, grading, drainage design and storm water management requirements
• BSc./B.Eng (Civil, Process or Mechanical) or equivalent with P.Eng designation for Alberta- PMP designation is considered an asset.
• Overall 15 plus years’ experience. At least 5 years in an engineering detailed drainage design/technical role, and minimum 10 years directly in project execution related role in the Oil and Gas industry Operator or Contractor company managing contracts/contractors- preference to Alberta and Canadian project experience.
• Familiarity with Alberta’s regulatory environment and experience with approval processes is an asset, (AER Directive 55)
• Computer Skills (Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Presentation, Planning and databases)
• Be trusted to handle confident and sensitive information.
• PMP designation would be considered an asset.
• Full understanding of servicing, grading, drainage design and storm water management requirements
• Effective leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written)
Additional comments:
• Position is to be based in Calgary; however flexibility to move/work/ travel in alternative locations may be required as determined by the execution strategy and project phase requirements.
• The job will experience periods of high stress and workloads during the project as well as subsequent phases, particularly the construction phase and during start up.
