The Role:
Must have your own U.S. Authorization to be considered for this position.

The Civil/Structural Engineer will be responsible for managing and overseeing the civil and structural portion of construction site activities for a major natural gas liquefaction project located in southwest Louisiana. These positions will be located in Hackberry, LA. Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC) will be required.

· Review bid drawings, schedules, specifications, and permits to ensure compliance with project requirements.

· Work with project engineers to review engineering plans for plant constructability, operability and maintainability.

· Works closely with, oversees and monitors contractor’s construction activities associated with a natural gas liquefaction facility, from project engineering through commissioning and turnover.

· Collaborates with project engineers in monitoring construction activities for compliance with engineering drawings, specifications and industry standards.

· Monitors contractor’s compliance with construction safety program.

· Tracks construction schedule and progress and ensures overall project schedule compliance.

· Ensures contractor compliance of quality assurance and quality control programs. Effectively implements non-conformance and deviation control systems.

· Assists in performing required vendor shop inspections at the request of Project Management.

· Reviews and provides input on contractor payments and change order requests.

· Provides input to weekly and monthly construction progress reports. Attends and participates in regular contractor construction meetings.

· Assists in resolving or recommends resolutions to Construction Management for contractual disputes between owner and contractor.

· Maintain daily detailed records for all areas of responsibilities.

· Collaborates with start-up engineers to facilitate start-up of the project and ensures efficient turnover of plant to operations and maintenance staff.

· Coordinates project site activities with the operations and maintenance staff. · Prepares reports and document project activities and data.



External Qualifications:
Education:

· Requires a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management, or equivalent construction management experience.

Experience:

· Requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in management of large construction projects. Experience with LNG, power plants or other large infrastructure construction projects are a plus.

Skills/ Knowledge/ Abilities:

· Must possess knowledge and understanding of construction practices/techniques, environmental compliance, health and safety programs and project controls/scheduling.

· Must possess knowledge and understanding of concrete mix design, formwork, placement, grouting and testing.

· Must possess knowledge and understanding of soils and soil testing methods.

· Must possess knowledge and understanding of piles and pile installation methods.

· Must possess knowledge and understanding of site prep work, surveying, drainage, finish grading and paving.

· Must possess knowledge and understanding of structural steel and component erection, rebar placement building erection and finishes, and coatings and painting.

· Must possess knowledge and understanding of applicable codes and standards.

· Experience in general construction of major projects systems.

· Experience in monitoring contractor’s QA/QC performance.

· Level I or II QA/QC certification a plus.

· Self-starter with proven leadership abilities, strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving abilities.

Physical Requirements:

This position is assigned to a field office and will require working outdoors, resulting in exposure to extremes of heat, cold, noise and dust. This position will also be exposed to normal construction equipment and site hazards.
