The Role:
1 MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

Responsible for the delivery of specific components / systems, by using Bentley systems and applying theoretical, practical and innovative design solutions within the relevant Engineering discipline.


2 POSITION IN ORGANISATION

Reports to specific / defined Senior Engineer within Engineering Function.


3 SCOPE OF JOB

1. Responsible for the delivery of components / systems to the defined Product Design Specification or Task Description.
2. Ability to take an analytical and systematic approach to create optimal solutions to problems.
3. Ability to work within a team.
4. Responsible for developing and maintaining specialist technical and business knowledge/capability.
5. Excellent time management and self-organisational skills.
6. Engineering Release.

4 DIMENSIONS & LIMITS OF AUTHORITY

• Operates within an agreed vehicle feature/sub-system budget and timescale.
• Accountable for identifying and escalating issues and risks to Senior Engineer / Manager.
• Responsibility to ensure factual and effective communication within all cross-function work teams.

5 QUALIFICATIONS

HNC qualified or equivalent and/or able to demonstrate the appropriate level of experience.



6 EXPERIENCE

Appropriate experience working as an Engineer within Automotive or Aerospace industry.



DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Accountable for the delivery of components / systems to the defined Product Design Specification or Task Description 40%
a. Ability to work to defined Product Design Specification including specified targets. i.e. unit cost, investment cost, quality, weight, DV and PV testing etc.
b. Responsible for instructing Engineering changes that are required for part / system delivery
c. Responsible for the collation and presentation of data to support Engineering / cross-functional meetings.


2. Ability to take an analytical and systematic approach to create optimal solutions to problems 20%
a. Responsible for design investigations supporting route cause analysis.
b. To propose the optimal design solution to meet the business requirements
c. Responsible for prompt concern resolution on existing components, including containment solutions if necessary.


3. Ability to work within a team 20%
a. Manage, monitor and, if necessary, expedite, supplier and/or external design house activities concerned in the design, release and delivery of the prototype and production parts.
b. Lead the analysis, identification and release of design solutions to problems encountered through the development phases and testing in a timely manner, ensuring the integrity of the system specifications and launch timing
c. Accountable for the support of the timely delivery of all product-engineering activities to meet start of production.


4. Responsible for developing and maintaining specialist technical and business knowledge/capability 10%
a. Ability to provide design direction to CAD Engineers.
b. Give technical direction to other feature owners.
c. Give engineering and business process guidance to other associates.
d. Assist and coach less experienced staff in all aspects of engineering principles.
e. To liaise with VWAG Engineers and external design partners.

5. Excellent time management and self-organisational skills 5%
a. Responsible for defining and planning own workload for approval by line manager.
b. Ability to demonstrate a flexible approach to urgent unforeseen tasks.
c. Occasional overseas travel may be required in support of project working and delivery. There may at times be the opportunity to work extended periods overseas.
d. Responsible for providing accurate planning information required to support project KPI’s.
e. Responsible for planning own workload to achieve KPI forecasts.

6. Engineering Releases 5%
a. Responsible for the release of quality data in the Bentley approved systems to the agreed task instruction in line with parts timing targets
b. Achieve cross-functional agreement prior to release as required.
