Our Client provides a comprehensive engineering subcontract facility. They offer precision CNC machining for components up to 50 tonnes, dedicated fabrication and fitting facilities, pressure testing, surface treatments, electrical engineering and PLC design, and their own transport anywhere in the UK. The Role:
We are recruiting for two CNC Machine Operators (Horizontal or Vertical Borers, Millers) for their heavy subcontract machine shop, handling up to 50 tonnes, range of large CNC milling machines, vertical borers, horizontal borers. Control systems Siemens, Fanuc, and Heidenhein.

MUST have experience in operating similar large CNC machine tools and in producing one-offs and small batch work. Must be programmer, setter, operator.

Someone with supervisory experience/ambition to be able to carry out a Shift Leader (Charge Hand) role would be much advantaged, however a competent operator is all that is required to fill this position.

Basic hours (days) 39 hpw, Mon-Thurs 0800-1630, 30 minutes’ lunch break. Fri 0800-1500 with lunch or 0600-1300. Evening/weekend overtime. They operate a shift system on most machines of one week days followed by one week nights (Mon-Thur nights 10 hours per shift, 12 with overtime).

Standard rate, additional overtime rates, shift premiums etc. 33 days paid holiday including bank holidays. Good stakeholder pension scheme, death in service benefit, long-service bonuses. Please note their location – approximately 30 minutes’ drive from Middlesbrough. They can offer assistance with relocation should a candidate consider moving into the area.

They are a family business in our 50th year of trading, carry out machining, fabrication assembly and testing services for a range of high-profile multinational customers, turnover £5m, employees 70. They are currently commissioning a Schiess Horimaster floor borer, 10m x-axis travel, purchased from Germany £1.2m investment. In 2013 they successfully applied for European funding as part of a £2m investment programme for 2014-15 and have just purchased a Dorries Contumat CNC VTL which will be commissioned, and a new Faro 3D laser. They are a growing business dedicated to re-investing every year; these positions are due to growth and additional capacity. In addition to subcontract machining work we also machine components for two product lines which are manufactured and assembled in-house.
