The Role:
The SERVICE holder is in charge, within the SURF team and under the responsibility of the Engineering and Procurement Leader, of activities related to corrosion protection and thermal insulation coating.
The SERVICE holder will ensure, during detailed engineering, procurement and construction phases, that all deliverables and documents (both internal and external) related to the disciplines and subjects he/she is in charge of are timely issued and fit for purpose. He/she shall ensure compliance of Contractors deliverables and documents with Company HSSEQ requirements and specifications, with applicable codes and standards and best engineering practices, and with Project specifications wrt these disciplines. He/she will review deviations to Company specifications or deviations requests/technical queries. The SERVICE holder will be the Contractor contact point for all matters related to the disciplines and subjects he/she is in charge of.
The SERVICE holder will participate in the management of disciplines-related engineering interfaces with other concerned disciplines/packages. He/she is responsible for monitoring the engineering of the disciplines and subjects he/she is in charge of. He/she will timely and actively liaise with other specialists of the SURF team in order to ensure consistency of the works.
The SERVICE holder will also participate in the follow-up of the SURF procurement and construction on yard for the disciplines and subjects he/she is in charge of. He/she will remain, with regards to the disciplines and subjects he/she is in charge of, the correspondent for engineering, procurement and construction occurring problems, and for any advice to be given or technical deviation request to be analysed and answered.
The SERVICE holder will assist the Engineering and Procurement Leader in the relationship with the Contractor for the disciplines and subjects he/she is in charge of.
The SERVICE holder reports to the Engineering and Procurement Leader.
The SERVICE holder is also accountable for demonstrating an exemplary behaviour with regard to HSSE rules and requirements and for ensuring their implementation within his/her scope of responsibility.

1. To adopt and demonstrate an exemplary behaviour with regard to HSSE, to respect the Project HSSE requirements and to ensure implementation of HSSE rules.
2. To ensure that HSSEQ issues and requirements are correctly handled and met in all the disciplines-related technical documents and construction activities.
3. To ensure that safe working practices are used within the Team along all phases of project.
4. To be informed of disciplines-related COMPANY General Specifications, Project Specifications and international norms and standards, taking knowledge from them to application to the Project.
5. To issue and maintain all the necessary technical documentation related to the disciplines.
6. To ensure that contractual scope of work is duly and timely performed by Contractor(s). To ensure daily liaison with Contractor(s) with regards to disciplines-related matters. To participates to weekly and/or monthly coordination meetings with Contractor(s) as appropriate. To ensure follow-up / review / validation of progress performed by Contractor(s) with regard to his/her disciplines and analyses/reports drifts that could occur and propose remedial solutions.
7. To supervise and control the detailed engineering by timely reviewing the disciplines-related documentation issued by Contractor ( Qualifications / Specifications / Procedures / technical documentation / queries / derogation requests...), in order to ensure compliance with COMPANY General Specifications, Project Specifications and Procedures (when applicable), international norms and standards with the objective to ensure respect of the schedule and to optimise costs without impacting required level of Quality and Safety. To raise consequently necessary comments and highlight unsafe design, deviations, unacceptable / unjustified design choices, constructability issues...
8. To ensure adequate and timely reporting to the Engineering and Procurement Leader (progress, concerns), and, as a general manner, anticipates problems, potential optimizations or improvements and offers solutions with regards to his/her disciplines
9. To liaise and interface actively with other SURF specialists with regard to the disciplines-related matters and on all engineering, procurement, constructability, operability and maintainability matters, in order to ensure consistency of the work.
10. To follow the coating suppliers at all relevant sites including fabrication sites, in particular:
• Witness of coating operations, coating process qualification
• Assessment and evaluation of coating environment and facilities, including arrangements for personnel protection and HSE;
• Examination and assessment of materials and consumables;
• Attendance at Independent, Third Party “Test-House”, Coating Plant to witness coating tests
• Review and approval of any “Special Processes” (Preheating, surface preparation, coating application, curing, coating tests, ageing, cathodic disbondment)...
To participate to the resolution of any discipline-related problem occurring during the Execution Phase, to review and give recommendation on technical deviation requests and to keep updated the documentation related to the disciplines.
11. To suggest / organise / participate to all necessary inspections and give advices on the matter with regards to disciplines related matters.
12. To ensure confidentiality of all the disciplines-related documentation produced (whatever its support).
13. To gather, as requested, ‘lessons learnt’ and provide feedback to the Engineering and Procurement Leader and other TOTAL E&P entities as required.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• SURF Engineering Coating / Corrosion / Thermal Insulation

• NACE CIP Level III ‘Peer Review’ Certified Coating Inspector (or ACQPA, FROSIO equivalent): Essential
• BGAS-CSWIP Painting Inspector Grade 1 / Site Coating Inspector, ICorr Painting Inspector Level 3: Highly Desirable
• Previous experience of supervising Contractor coating activities and qualifications for offshore pipelines, including polypropylene coatings, silicon based wet insulation systems, FBE, thermal insulation, field joint coating: Essential
