The Company:
An international EPC Company involved in LNG and Mining Projects.

The Role:
The coating inspector will report directly to the HSEQ Coordinator. There will also be an indirect dual reporting line to the Perth based Quality Manager.

Area of Responsibility :
- It is the responsibility of the employee to safely and diligent perform the duties assigned to the above position as set out hereunder
- The coating Inspector shall be responsible for monitoring the daily activities of the Contractor's Coating Inspector
- Provide technical support to resolve issues in relation to the Contractor's blasting and painting operations

Safety :
- The coating inspector will be required to conduct all work related activities in such a manner that the health and safety of all persons on work site be of his prime concern
- All personnel are empowered to stop the work and highlight any safety or environmental deficiencies of any kind which may occur in the execution of the work by contractors, subcontractors and or vendors
- All accidents shall be reported

General Duties :
- Comply with all applicable safety instructor and procedures
- Ensure effective implementation of project procedure in accordance with Contractor's Project Quality Plan
- Ensure that in all matters due diligences is observed at all times and initiatives taken to secure the required results
- Ensure that all information, both written and spoken, obtained in the course of work is handle with confidentiality
- Ensure that the work is carried out in a problem areas and provide technical solutions
- Actively monitor work in progress, identify problem areas and provide technical solutions
- Ensure wherever possible completion within the areas of responsibility
- Bring forward suggestions for improvements within the areas of responsibility
- Undertake any other work and/or responsibilities as may be required to assist the project

Specific Duties :
- Monitor the contractor QC activities associated with blasting and painting operations
- Monitor the receipt, preservation and handling of coating materials and equipment procedure by the contractor
- Ensure the effective implementation of ITPs and attend at Witness and Hold points as and when notified by the Contractor
- Provide proactive attendance during coating system qualifications
- Review and approve proposed coating system qualifications
- Inspection of work in progress, specifically the preparation of steelwork and the application of coating systems by the contractor, to ensure compliance with project specified requirements
- Regular review of coating records
- Providing input to progress reporting as required
- Attend and participate in all necessary QC team meetings
- Assist and provide QC support to the company site team in clarification / resolution on issues related to blasting and painting
- If necessary provide assistance and participate as required in monitoring the offsite coating activities of Contractor's sub vendors

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Formal qualifications in Coating Inspection (NACE preferred)
- Suitably experience and conversance with Industry Codes and Standards such as NACE, SSPC, ISO 1461, 8501-1, 2409, 4625, RAL and relevant EN standards
- Good Understanding of QA/QC requirements for final documentation on oil and gas related construction project
- Minimum 15 years hands on experience as Coating Inspector on major construction projects with minimum 5 years in supervisory role
- Working knowledge and experience of the application of Passive Fire Protection and cryogenic insulation

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- Proactive approach to resolving quality issues
- Basic computing skills and working knowledge of MS Office Word/Excel
- Formal safety training
- Effective communication and reporting skills
- Previous experience of working within multicultural organization
