The Company:
My client is a major European Oil & Gas refining company.

The Role:
Supports the Commercial group by providing detailed analysis for all commercial activities including project economics, concept screening, comparisons of contractual terms and conditions, product marketability and price realisations to secure the preferred options.

Safety - Conducts all activities in a safe and effective manner and raises safety and environmental issues immediately and in line with corporate policy

Leadership - Undertakes the role in line with corporate policy and demonstrates behaviours in line Nexen’s values at all times. Readily accepts accountability

Financial – Carries out duties in a way that maximises value and minimises waste.

Technical/Functional – Project Analysis – Performs detailed business analysis to develop recommendations regarding processing and export options, contractual terms, marketability assessments, benchmarking, etc for inhouse and Coventurer approval. Maintains Commercial data base on crude pricing offsets and transportation costs for usage in Nexen Economics.
Provides adhoc pricing and transportation assessments to Appraisal teams.

Risk Management – Ensures the identification of critical commercial risks and the preparation of risk mitigation plans. Work with other individuals/departments, as appropriate, to implement these plans.

Reporting and Knowledge Capture - Ensures accurate, relevant, timely and complete commercial and KPI reporting according to established procedures. Ensures other NPUL functions have business-critical information provided in a timely manner to support reporting requirements and strategic, operational and commercial decision-making.

Relations – Represents Nexen, when required, at external meetings on commercial issues with Coventurers and industry forums
Performs other duties, completes additional tasks and supports ad hoc projects as required

Collaboration - Collaborates with others in the team and looks for opportunities to leverage their network and work with others to develop safe, practical and effective solutions

Continuous Improvement & Innovation - Continuously develops ways of working by seeking feedback from colleagues and key stakeholders. Complies with Nexen project management disciplines, effectively utilises knowledge databases and actively participates in project reviews

Capability Development – Looks for opportunities to develop technical and personal skills both by formal learning interventions and work experience. Coaches team colleagues where appropriate and demonstrates a personal commitment to lifelong learning

People Processes – Engages with people processes in a positive and timely manner. Demonstrates a commitment to the spirit of such processes.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Undergraduate degree in appropriate subject(s) (e.g. Law, Economics, Finance, Business, Engineering)

•Understanding of the commercial aspects of transportation, processing, and operating agreements, marketability, crude valuations, product stream assessments,

•Practical knowledge of all aspects of government regulations and commercial law as applicable to joint venture agreements and use of 3rd party infrastructure

•Business acumen skills in performing economic analysis.

•Effective relationship builder, with listening skills and collaborative instincts with the ability to effectively communicate, negotiate, network and influence both in and external to the client.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
•Displays honesty, integrity and a strong sense of ethics in all decision and actions, role-models the “values”, and displays a strong personal commitment to upholding the highest standards of HSE

•Strong team player, experience in working in teams across multiple disciplines, and the ability to understand, interact and lead diverse groups

•Prepared to challenge openly and resolve difficult company issues
