The Company:
Our client is a global leader in the design and delivery of infrastructure, power and major engineering projects around the world. Their clients come to them for a wide range of advice, resources and skills - in engineering, maintaining infrastructure, managing construction, planning and strategic thinking.

The Role:
Our client are currently recruiting a Commercial / Contracts Manager to work in South Africa on a minimum of 12 months contract. This role involves working on the new dry-cooled coal-fired power station being built in Limpopo province. Candidates will need to have power plant / CCGT / critical coal fire / thermal or nuclear experience. The role will include but is not limited to the following:

• To provide effective project control to ensure that the project is delivered on time within budget to the client’s satisfaction.
• To maximise all opportunities to enhance company revenue
• To undertake performance reviews and identify the training and development needs of the commercial team, mentor and support junior members
• Preparation of Early stage /Sanction Grade Estimates
• Preparation and issue of enquiry documentation
• Bid Analysis
• Tender clarification meetings / award and contract documentation.
• Setting up systems of project control ( drawings, specifications, engineering query, correspondence and change registers)
• Drafting of contractual correspondence.
• Establishment of baseline cost report and schedule
• Change management
• Re-measurement and agreement of current workscope.
• Identification of potential claims.
• Cashflow forecasts and updates.
• Chairing regular commercial meetings with key delivery contractors
• Active participation at client and internal project performance reviews
• Earned Value analysis i.e. planned vs. achieved vs. expended.
• Productivity/efficiency analysis/calculation (dependent on Contract style).

As the Owner’s representative coordinate with Contractors’ and Consultants’ contracts managers and schedule managers and stakeholders
Assist with the preparation of enquiry documents for PQ or Tender, and with evaluation and scoring, reports and recommendations
Analyzing the general terms and conditions of various contracts to highlight obligations, ambiguities, conflicts and deviations in party responsibilities, liabilities, scope of requirements and the like. Providing contractual advice on the resolution to problems encountered.
Addressing all high-risk related contractual correspondence and dealing with all site correspondence ensuring management of contractual issues.
Monitoring and review of the Contract Procurement and Contract Administrators to ensure contracts are consistently and comprehensively controlled to maintain the highest project management standards.
Liaising and coordinating independent cost consultant to ensure that quick resolution of cost and program issues are maintained.
