The Company:
Our client is a global leader in the design and delivery of infrastructure, power and major engineering projects around the world. Their clients come to them for a wide range of advice, resources and skills - in engineering, maintaining infrastructure, managing construction, planning and strategic thinking.

The Role:
We are currently looking for a Commercial Manager to work at our client's Swindon based site.

The Commercial Manager will be part of a large project team providing effective project control to ensure that the design and management services on the project are delivered on time within budget to the client’s satisfaction and to deliver the expected business outcomes and performance.

As Commercial Manager you will be responsible for the following:
Effective commercial management of the client contract with a mixture of emerging cost, target cost and fixed price works
Provision of Commercial Assurance activities, including contract administration, pro-active change management, commercial risk management and project reporting.
Provision of Commercial management and quantity surveying support
Provision of support and assistance to others on other cross sector schemes and commissions
Management and support of the business Commercial Manager and Senior Project Manager

Skills & Experience

Skills in the majority of the following:
Ability to prepare, monitor and control cost plans and financial budgets for programmes of design work and specific projects
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Ability to respond positively to change
Good ICT skills in particular good MS Office Skills
Commercial awareness
Multi discipline capability
Excellent communication skills
Good analytical skills and ability to challenge ineffective performance
Good negotiation skills
Good contract management/administration skills
Ability to prioritise your own workload to meet agreed objectives and support others where necessary.
Experience in the majority of the following:
Cost modelling
Change management
Identification, preparation, evaluation and management of claims.
Drafting of contractual correspondence.
Estimating / cost analysis for both contractor and employer
Project Cost Management and challenges including accruals, cash flow and forecasting
Construction programming
Performance measurement
Supply chain management
Risk and contract management and assessing their impacts on project budgets.
Assessing, valuing and agreeing target costs
Providing commercial advice on the development of the target construction price and on any potential disputes as they arise.
Supporting the procurement process and working with appointed contractors to improve forecasting and accuracy of scheme financial control.
Experienced in the use of major standard forms of Contract, NEC and FIDIC Development and maintenance of systems for the performance monitoring of construction contracts and projects.
Working collaboratively with internal and external partners to achieve ‘joined up’ service delivery.
Proven experience of different types of contracts e.g. design, design and build and ECI contracts and / or multi-discipline projects would be highly desirable
Experience in railways professional services and working with Network Rail standard forms of contract
