The Company:
Our client is a nuclear specialist, covering both civilian and defence sectors, across the complete lifecycle from New Build, through Operations and Maintenance, to final decommissioning and waste disposal.

The Role:
Support the project team in developing the appropriate project procurement/commercial/contractual strategy including the letting and management of subcontracts (detail design, manufacture, install and commission) packages in an overall NEC3 Target Price environment
All commercial duties supporting Package Managers in the above
All internal monthly cost reporting including supporting Earned Value Analysis at both the subcontract and main contract levels
Interface with both client and subcontractors
Promote commercial awareness throughout the project
Analytical, commercial, thorough, detailed
Reliable and consistent
Articulate – excellent written communication and numerate
Keeps commercial disputes factual, contractual
The Project QS/Commercial Manager can be a career route within the company. Typical career development can be to departmental management responsibility and then strategic to senior management within the Company. Progression is always based upon suitable experience, qualifications and business need.
CPD is encouraged by the company. Professional training courses are regularly attended to keep up to date with legislation. Accreditation to professional bodies is supported and encouraged. The principle adopted is that professional development is intended to improve the effectiveness of the individual’s ability to do their job.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Degree qualified in QS or Commercial discipline (HNC/HND qualified candidates with significant appropriate experience may be considered)
PC literate in Microsoft Office suite
UK Driving licence is essential
Flexibility to travel to other UK offices and sites on occasion is necessary
MUST be eligible for SC clearance
Demonstrable experience of subcontractor management in a similar environment.
Demonstrable experience gained in a Quantity Surveying or Commercial Control within a project delivery environment
Knowledge and experience of New Engineering Contracts
Experienced gained in preparation of NEC3 Subcontracts
Previous responsibility of project budgets
Experienced gained within a large contracting organisation
General understanding of nuclear process plant and equipment would be beneficial

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
MRICS is an added advantage but not essential
Current SC level security clearance is preferred though not essential. Clearance will be sponsored by the Company
