My client is a UK leading Industrial Service supplier. With a wealth of knowledge in delivering solutions to key areas that really matter to there clients'. This has reflected in the growth and rise in stature of my client's business. With a estimated turnover of £120 million per year from £30 million per year where it was 5 years ago.

The Role:
Commercial Operations includes:

Contract Commercial performance (framework/terms services), Contract Estimating and Sub Contract Commercial/Contract Management of a series of Engineering and/or Services framework contract with a scope of supply including: Engineering, Project Management and Delivery, Minor Modifications, TAR management and delivery, Term Contracts, Planned and Corrective Maintenance.

The scope includes the following disciplines: Engineering, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, Instrumentation, Scaffolding, Insulation, Painting and Asbestos Removal


The Commercial Manager - Operations is responsible for

- Overseeing all framework/term contracts (as well as specific projects) throughout the UK from a commercial and contractual performance (margin, turnover, work capital, commercial change management, forecasting, valuation, cost and value reporting, etc)
- Review commercial and framework performance to
o developing strategies to improve results
o developing action plans to improve results
o Ensure action plans are implemented or implementation of actions
- Driving performance improvements in all results areas as well as the commercial culture, organisation, processes and systems
- Providing commercial leadership including driving improvement initiatives
- Direct Functional management of a group of Commercial leads/managers (whose line report is to an Operations Director or Key Account Manager) – These teams then manage a portfolio of contracts
- Indirect support to the individual contract teams
- Commercial assurance including undertaking audits
- Supporting the Commercial & Operations Board in business leadership
- Interacting/interfacing with customer representatives at levels from a commercial as well as general business perspective
- Liaison with estimating, proposals and Business development in the winning work process
- Liaison with legal function/consultant for contractual issues
- Overseeing any claims (strategy, preparation, client liaison, third party services, liaison with internal terms)
- Providing commercial reports to the senior/Executive team
- Support the Operational Management team to ensure business priorities Safety, Customers, Marin, Delivery, Growth and People are delivered
- Support the implementation of innovations by providing commercial business case
- Liaison with internal functions including procurement, finance, accounts, etc to ensure accurate cost and value reporting as well as predictability and delivery results


Experience/Qualifications

- 5+ years commercial leadership and management experience in petro-chemical, process, refining (or similar) sectors
- Line and task management of commercial management staff and agency personnel
- Experience of Engineering, TAR’s, Projects & Term Maintenance work covering MEISIP services.
- Extensive experience of blue collar and management in the Industrial arena
- Previous experience as a regional or business commercial manager/director in an Engineering & Services Contractor
- Ideally a commercial qualification
