The Company:
Our client is a leading engineering contractor and project integrator for the nuclear industry. They have been at the heart of the UK nuclear industry for more than 50 years. During that time they have designed, manufactured, installed and commissioned a wide range of nuclear equipment and plant for both the power generation and defence markets.

The Role:
The role

As a Commercial Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor your focus would be to act as the ‘commercial and contractual guardian’ of our tendering activities. The successful incumbent will work with our bid managers, estimating team, procurement team and others (inc contractors) involved in tendering activities to provide contractual and commercial input to our tendering activities and subsequent negotiations. The commercial manager will play an essential role in the development of capture strategies, tenders and negotiations for forthcoming pipeline tenders and various Power Station Projects.

As a Commercial Manager/ Senior Quantity Surveyor your main duties will involve:
• To establish pre-contract contractual relationships with partners where required
• Assist with the continued delivery of existing major EPC and Decommissioning contracts
• To guide tender strategies and ensure a cohesive offer that best manages risk / reward balance
• Initial reviews of terms and conditions and other ITT documentation
• Preparation of qualifications, clarifications and limitations (commercial memorandum)
• Close liaison with the Procurement team to ensure suitable enquiry packages are issued
• To present tender submissions to potential clients where requested and o play a full role in contract negotiations
• To be able to appreciate and undertake post contract commercial duties if necessary

As a Commercial Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor you will have experience:
• You will have Knowledge and experience of partner contractual relationships (including join ventures) to both tenders and for delivery of major projects
• Clear previous experience in a busy tendering environment preferably acting on behalf of a main contractor or major subcontractor
• Knowledge and experience of New Engineering Contracts
• Demonstrable experience of supply chain management
• General appreciation of commercial issues in a design, build and decommission environment
• Degree qualified in QS or Commercial discipline (HNC/HND qualified candidates with significant appropriate experience may be considered)
• MRICS is an advantage but not essential
• Driving licence is essential as is flexibility to travel to other UK offices and sites on occasion when necessary
• Current SC level security clearance is preferred though not essential.
• Preferred candidates will have experience of same/similar role from either Nuclear / Power & Energy / Oil & Gas / Defence / and Pharmaceutical Industries

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Track record in mechanical / electrical biased EPC projects
* Experience in commercial management of multidiscipline, lifecycle EPC contracts up to a value of £150m
* Experience in the management of NEC3 type contracts
* Experience in commercial management of projects across multiple industry sectors
* Experience in the development of commercial strategies and input for large EPC tenders
* Degree level qualification or equivalent in a technical or engineering discipline

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
