The primary purpose is to ensure delivery on time, to the right quality at the right cost all materials within the responsibility of the commodity. This is to be done through strategic supplier selection, supplier resourcing, cost down, total cost optimisation and supplier development through quality and delivery improvements. The secondary purpose is to motivate and develop direct reports to achieve best practice in terms of supply chain management whilst influencing the wider business in support of Company Key Goals.
This position will report directly to the Head of Supply Chain and will have a number of direct reports. Crucial to the success of this role is the development and implementation of supply chain strategies that effectively use the resources available.
The role covers the management of a commercial procurement team to deliver best practice results within the function of Supply Chain. As Commodity Manager it will also entail leading teams across supplier development, material control and any other functions required to resolve supply chain issues and implement strategic goals.
This includes the development of the function in support of Company Key Goals and Strategy. The role requires sufficient flexibility to change role within Purchasing to work at the same level with different areas of responsibility. The role does involve overseas travel.
