The Company:
Our Client is a global Energy Leader with a strong commitment to Honest and Ethical Business Practices within the Oil and Gas Industry. Our Client operates as an independent energy company. It has four segments: Oil and Gas, Syncrude, Energy Marketing, and Chemicals. The Oil and Gas segment explores, develops, and produces crude oil, natural gas, and related products.

The Role:
•Develop and implement internal communications strategies and tools that educate, engage and inspire employees to contribute to business growth and performance, and achieve UK North Sea business goals. A key priority is to develop the communications strategies and plans to improve employee engagement and enhance leadership visibility through regular town hall meetings and day-to-day employee communications, as well as build the companys reputation with local stakeholders, and opinion leaders. Work closely with Human Resources and Government Relations to ensure alignment on internal and external messages.
•Write and/or edit materials highlighting business priorities, including internal briefing notes, project plans and timelines, content outlines, presentations, corporate publications, newsletter stories, print and online content; support the Golden Eagle team with project-related communications.
•Ensure content on the UK business unit pages on the intranet site, and content on the external web site is appropriate and current.
•Develop and manage events that facilitate employee engagement and support community investment
•Assist the Calgary-based media relations team in developing news releases, backgrounders, fact sheets, articles, key messaging, speeches and speaking points; coordinate response to media inquiries; ensure external information is communicated to employees in a timely way; manage the communications approval process between UK and Corporate.
Work with the Community Investment committee to ensure that donations are aligned with business strategies and that recognition for these gifts helps leverage our brand. Support community relations work – ensuring the company is positioned as a responsible developer by opinion leaders and community leaders.
Ensure the company is positioned as a great place to work and partner with HR to improve our recruitment processes and messages.
•Maintain key business-specific issues files (backgrounders, fact sheets, key messages, Q&As) to ensure the company is prepared to respond to issues that arise. Ensure a robust crisis communications plan is in place and that all tools meet regulatory requirements and are integrated with the corporate-wide plan (and the crisis communications plans of our joint venture partners). Liaise with local media relations agency of record.
•Ensure proper and consistent branding of the company on internal and external materials, including advertising. Provide advice to internal clients regarding branding.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations or journalism
•Corporate communications experience
•Excellent writing ability; clear, concise and utilizing key messages
•Independent worker, self-starter
•Extremely organized and deadline oriented
•Oil & gas industry experience
•Crisis communications experience
•Media relations experience
•Proven ability to coordinate and implement communications strategies and to manage projects and/or events
•Team player with leadership skills: ability and desire to interact with people at all management levels
•Ability to ensure maximum performance, even under pressure
•Diplomacy, respect, autonomy, self starter
•Organization, attention to detail, initiative
