The Company:
Our Client is an O&G exploration and production company based in Aberdeen who operate in the North Sea. They have interests in a large number of fields, the majority of which they operate, on the UK Continental Shelf with numerous offshore installations and one onshore terminal.

The Role:
Position Overview
As a key member of the communications team, you will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of internal and external communication strategies for the company. You will support (and deputise for) the Government & Public Affairs Manager in proactively managing the company’s reputation with a range of external stakeholders including governmental and regulatory bodies and the media.


Accountabilities
You will take a leading role in the delivery of a number of discrete projects; specifics TBD but likely to include significant standalone communications activity around asset integrity; decommissioning activity; and redevelopment of the company website, among others.

Using a broad variety of communication channels and tools including exhibition materials, digital and video formats, written collateral and others, you will be required to take a flexible approach to delivering communications to a diverse range of audiences, across multiple locations.


Key Duties
•Support the company’s internal and external communication requirements through writing and editing a wide range of communications materials;
•Support (and deputise for) the function manager in providing a dynamic, fit-for-purpose communications service in an emergency response and reputation management context
•Proactively identify and champion opportunities for new communications channels;
•Develop and implement communications plans for projects, issues and announcements, regularly assessing their effectiveness and updating them as necessary;
•Create content for the company’s digital communication platforms including the company intranet and public website;
•Assist in coordination of employee events including Town Halls, webcasts, leaders’ meetings and employee events;
•Develop and maintain an understanding of new and ongoing initiatives within the company to influence proactive communications.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Education Attainment & Accreditation
•Degree/diploma or equivalent in Communications, Public Relations or related field and/or demonstrable practical experience of working in a communications capacity
•Membership of an appropriate professional body
•Basic offshore accreditations (BOSIET; MIST; medical) would be advantageous

Professional skills & Experience
•First-class written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to translate complex concepts into simple, understandable messages
•Experience of dealing with the media including in crisis scenarios
•Strong client consulting, project management and communication planning skills.
•Understanding of how to best leverage multiple platforms to meet business objectives and audience needs.
•Demonstrable experience of direct delivery with one or more communications platforms (eg DTP; graphic design packages; video editing; etc) would be advantageous
•Comfortable working at both strategic and tactical communic
