Looking for a Completion Fluids Engineer to work in the Houston, Texas office.

The Role:
Roles and Responsibilities

Summary of role:
Work with the Wells Teams, drilling and completion fluid, cementing and waste management contractors to deliver safe and reliable wells. Position requires an expertise in completion fluid design and an understanding of laboratory verification for those recommended designs.

Responsible to the Wells Team for ensuring that all Drilling Fluids, Completion Fluids and Drilling Waste planning and execution is carried out in accordance with standards for these areas.

Accountable for producing and maintaining a Regional Technology Plan for Drilling Fluids, Completion fluids and Drilling Waste and implementing the technology in such a way as to ensure first time successful deployment and capture of learning.

Operational support:
Responsible to the Wells Teams for ensuring the acceptable quality of the Basis of Design, Fluid Program and end of well documentation.

Responsible to the Wells Team for ensuring support from the Fluids contractor is of an acceptable standard during the execution stage and providing additional support to the Wells Teams during well challenges.

Fluids Sub Discipline Support:
Responsible for assisting in increasing the capability of the BP Fluids Sub Discipline through support to the BP Fluids Community of Practice via regular participation in its meeting and support to working groups developing standards, training methods and knowledge systems.

This position is a technical role. Candidates will have broad experience in Fluids either with an operator or service company. Both operational and planning support in the office exposure is essential.

It is expected that candidates will have a good understanding of the cross-over to drilling and completion skills such as operating in narrow pore pressure fracture gradient windows, hole cleaning practices and wellbore strengthening.

Candidates will be expected to demonstrate deep technical skills in line with the company’s operating regions that include wellbore stability, shale chemistry, formation damage, sand-faced completions, ERD practices, multi-laterals, completion fluids, environmental awareness/regulatory compliance and remote operations.

Deepwater and/or HTHP experience are a distinct advantage.

Leadership is a desirable quality.

Mobility is also desirable.
