The Role:
Job Purpose
• Responsible for developing and implementing effective anti-trust firewall and tax compliance programs within the company and assisting the Compliance Manager in the development and delivery of firewall and tax training programs and guidance to staff.

Reporting and Relationships
• Reports to the Compliance Manager.
• No supervisory responsibilities.
• Internally, has contact with Legal Department staff and other Qatargas department managers and staff in relation to the provision of firewall and tax compliance advice, training and assurance programs across the Company.
• Externally, communicates with Qatargas affiliates and external lawyers/business consultants.

Job Context & Major Challenge(s)

• Compliance with competition and tax laws is a priority for Qatargas because of the potential large fines and reputational damage for the Company if it did not comply. The Compliance Department develops and implements effective firewall and tax compliance programs.
• The post-holder must effectively take responsibility or certain aspects and assist the Compliance Manager in other aspects in the delivery of these programs in relations to Qatargas and its affiliates (e.g. South Hook companies and overseas regional liaison offices). The post-holder has direct responsibility for the planning and execution of the annual firewall and tax assurance programs; the preparation and delivery of associated training programs; and the provision of advice to Qatargas personnel across all departments on firewall and tax compliance.
• Deputy to the Compliance Manager with the freedom to take final decisions on firewall and tax compliance in his absence (as described in Reporting and Relationships).

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree and a professional qualification in law or finance, preferably specializing in tax and competition law/management.
• 8 years’ commercial experience in law or finance, preferably with exposure to competition and/or tax law , and developing and facilitating assurance programs and/or training courses in a regulatory organization or the oil and gas industry.
• Experience in the application of risk management/ business continuity methods desirable.
• General knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment in the Oil and Gas industry desirable.
• Excellent communication and drafting skills in English.
