Our client is a leading provider of innovative, value creating plastics solutions for the infrastructure (pipe systems, and power and communication cables), automotive and advanced packaging markets. They have its headquarters in the UAE and Singapore.
Our client is on the way to increase their capacity even further with a multi - billion dollar mega- project. By the end of 2013, they will have added a 3rd Ethane cracker to create the largest Ethane cracker complex in the world.

The Role:
About the job:

To establish and run a condition monitoring program to monitor plant rotating equipments using advanced On-line & Off-line data collection tools and techniques. To analyse and recommend remedial measures to solve the equipment problems in a timely manner to avoid production losses and reduce maintenance costs. To also propose measures that would minimize failures and improve equipment reliability / availability.

Main Work Performed and Responsibilities:

• Develops and maintains condition monitoring program for rotating equipment for the assigned plants and ensures condition-based maintenance strategy is applied wherever possible.
• Issues recommendations based on the analysis in a timely manner so that the maintenance is performed with effective planning and at less cost.
• Monitors equipment performance, frequent failures and analysis to diagnose cause and advice on remedial measures including Short Term Actions.
• Maintains data in the computerized system and produces regular reports and management information data.
• Checks equipment records and reviews equipment performance to determine state of equipment. Discusses with Operations and Maintenance personnel and participates in equipment performance enhancement programs, suggestions to improve reliability and prevent chronic breakdowns.
• Contributes to the preparation of predictive, preventive, modification and major shutdown maintenance programs and equipment checklists for all rotating equipment in the plant.
• Follow up of major equipment overhauls.
• Provides inputs for the design review of plant modifications from the reliability point of view as and when requested.
• Guides, directs, trains and motivates subordinates and trainees to perform to their best potential and ensures adherence of HSE guidelines by all.
• Provides technical support in maintaining On-line & Off-line systems software and hardware.
• Prepares and presents technical reports for complex rotating equipment problems.
• Technical coordination with other plant availability personnel to diagnose / troubleshoot rotating machinery problems and issue recommendations.
• Provides technical support for workshop & field balancing of rotors.
• Issues recommendations based on the Lube oil analysis of critical rotating equipments.
• Follow-up of maintenance jobs with the view of quality assurance leading to problem solving and preventing repeat-failures.
• Actively participate in Reliability improvement programs and RCFA process of Rotating equipment.
• Actively works in CMMS systems like SAP to get the equipment overhauls history, PM plans etc..
• Works out development plans for assigned U.A.E national trainees, coaches, trains and develops them in accordance with company’s emiratization program.
• Contributes on continuous basis in improving the Condition Monitoring Program to achieve Company goals & objectives.

Work Contacts:

• Interacts on a daily basis with colleagues in Plant Availability and Plant Improvement departments and the Operations personnel to discuss equipment problems and decide on solutions. Also interacts with vendors and contractors as and when required.

Supervisory Responsibility:

• It’s a staff function with advisory, analysis & support responsibility with no direct subordinates.

Independence of Operation and Decision making Authority:

• Provides expertise on fault analysis and advises on solutions for equipment failure. Aims to get the equipment working as per specified technical parameters. Follows the policies and guidelines of the Plant Availability Function.

• Occasionally, “acts” as Supervisor / Team Leader during their absence.

• Reports to Condition Monitoring Team Leader. Performance is reviewed by Condition Monitoring Team Leader.

Work Environment:
• Based at the plant location in Ruwais. Spends a lot of time in the plants to check equipment. Is exposed to plant conditions and weather extremes.

• Needs to be part of “On-Call” system & be available to attend emergency works after normal working hours.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Full time BS / BE / BTech degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Instrumentation preferred).
Specialized Mechanical with training in vibration analysis and other Condition Monitoring Techniques, with a minimum of 10 years in the field of Condition Monitoring in Petrochemical / Refinery / Oil & Gas plants.

Working experience of latest PC based On-Line & Off-Line Condition Monitoring systems (Hardware & Software) from Bently Nevada / CSI / SKF / IRD.

Knowledge of high speed complex rotating equipment and their maintenance strategies / techniques, repairs, diagnostics and fault analysis. (Multistage steam turbines, pumps, motors, gearboxes, turbo compressors, screw compressors, Extruders, Reciprocating Compressors etc).

Good communication & technical report writing skills in English. Well versed with PC usage. Practical knowledge of CMMS systems like SAP.
