The Company:
Our client, a major Engineering company, requires expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Alberta.
This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
Responsibilities & Duties:

• Provide ideas / suggestions to engineering designs to support construction, operations, and maintenance.
• Safety considerations and input through all stages
• Provide ideas / recommendations for modularization
• Provide recommendations for execution and cost optimizations
• Assist / perform MTO’s
• Assist with CWP strategy development and ensure materials are properly identified,
• Coordinate, Input, and follow-up on constructability reviews and HAZOPS
• Provide input and opportunities / innovations for optimizing constructions costs and schedules, through all phases of the work
• Work with engineering and field staff on heavy lifts, crane requirements, heavy moves, etc.
• Support the development of estimates
• Support the expediting of vendor information
• Support engineering in the management of change as required
• Provide comments / concerns on scope documents & drawings during squad checks IFIR & IFR.
• Advise the Client project team of potential contracting or logistical issues and opportunities Logistics
• Recommend Brownfield and Greenfield construction designation considerations or opportunities.
• Support interface managements with other projects as requested.
• Coordinate / arrange site or field tours for field verification, confirmation / mark ups and identify any potential as build requirements.
• Provide an Interface for the client project team, site personnel, and area owners as requested on construction related matters, and ensure that the items brought to their attention by Syncrude are resolved and / or incorporated into the design or followed-up to the
project team’s satisfaction.
• Attend Project Management Team meetings.(PMT)
• Attend Critical Risk Assessments. (CRA) and provide input
• Attend Scope of Work Reviews (SOW) and provide input.
• Attend Squad Checks and provide necessary mark ups.
• Provide crane requirements for specific equipment for installation.
• Provide proper orientation of equipment on trailers from vendors to meet construction needs to eliminate double handling at site. (Lift off trailer and place in position)
• Identify temporary facilities such as lay downs, office trailers, lunch rooms, washrooms.
• Insure proper access/egress is identified for these facilities.
• Review and determine temporary power needs for the construction of the project as well as facilities.
• Identify if road upgrades are required for each of the projects.
• Identify proper access on site for delivery of over sized loads to the project. (Modules, sub stations,etc.)
• Insure constructability demonstrates and provides value and track recommendations, potential cost savings that were implemented and record in Stewardship Report to client Mark Tuite.
• Provide constructability hours for Stage 2, Stage 3, Stage 4, for the various projects.
• Site visits for the specific projects with engineering disciplines and interface with client Senior Management.
• Prepare and attend Innovation Sessions to provide potential savings, innovative ideas and suggestions to reduce construction schedule or onsite hours.
• Where appropriate review modularization strategies/availability of fabrication vendors for the projects (market conditions maybe busy)
• Develop good relationships with the engineering disciplines and client.
• Develop a good team environment within the department.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Relevant Engineering degree or diploma in Construction Technology.
Minimum 8 years experience in construction management.
Proven supervisory experience.
Solid Oral and Written English Language Skills.
