The Company:
A global Oil & Gas operator with extensive operations in the Caspian Region.

The Role:
POSITION REPORTS TO: Construction Team Lead
DELIVERY TEAM / FUNCTION: Onshore Facilities
WORK LOCATION: Baku, Azerbaijan
WORK SCHEDULE: 6/2 Rotation

KEY ROLE:

•Oversee the management of the terminal Brownfield construction works through the main terminal contractor, energising related works in the brownfield area
•Assist in Client assurance and report on progress, safety and quality throughout the project stages, in multidiscipline related works
•Provide discipline specific support and construction input for the preparation of the Onshore Terminal technical documentation, (risks, lessons learned, constructability, etc)
•Provide control of construction works and report to the Construction TL.
•Organise, direct, mentor, plan works with the terminal contractor
•Relevant Piping, welding and general construction management within the oil & gas sector

EXPERIENCE:

•Proven track record of experience gained in similar oil and gas / petrochemical / power generation related international projects, in a similar role leading to development of the following skill sets:

a) Leading Contract teams in a multidiscipline projects.
b) Planning activities on a daily / weekly basis and linking into schedule
c) Organising resources into work groups.
d) Resolution of technical issues at site level and liaising with engineering
e) Employing motivational techniques to enhance performance from contractors and client team under your control
f) Control budgets, manning, scope within designated area, progress in P3/P6, and reporting same in a structured format
g) Delivering construction projects or portions of
h) Controlling piping, civil and structural installations

RESPONSIBILITIES & OBJECTIVES :

• Promoting project HSE objectives.
• Provide direction and leadership to the Contractor works scope in all disciplines
• Liaise with operations team on all interface matters relating to Brownfield scope
• Lead the Construction team Lessons Learned Process
• Participate in the Onshore team Risk Management Process
• Participate in task risk assessment meetings.
• Expediting site query response , where applicable
• Providing assistance to the terminal construction contractor for resolution of issues, etc.
• Witnessing and approving site acceptance tests.
• Assist Quality department in assurance and control activities.
• Review and acceptance of contractor construction procedures
• Monitor contractor performance and highlight any concerns to line manager.
• Attending project meetings as required.
• Encourage development of Azeri National personnel
• Provide advice, coaching and training to Azeri National personnel as necessary
• Mentor and assist in training of junior staff as required
• Participate in the reporting process on construction progress, both schedule and cost.
• Compilation of reports as required.

BASIC SKILLS:

• Keen awareness of management of behavioural based site safety programmes
• Understanding of all engineering disciplines, particularly in onshore terminals
• Understand how to read relevant engineering drawings, specifications and codes
• Ability to understand logic linked schedules (P3 / P6 or similar) and add value to these schedules.
• Ability to communicate effectively with contractor’s/line managers/ and supervision in English language (oral and written).
• Knowledge and understanding of management operating systems
• Good IT skills, (understanding of MS office, etc.)
• Excellent and proven organisation skills
• Understanding of current safety legislation (BS / EN / OSHA).
• Managing multi discipline works

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum:
HNC / HND or equivalent in engineering discipline
Registered Incorporated Engineer

Desired:
Engineering Degree
Registered chartered engineer
