The Company:
Our client is a major international Engineering, Procurement and Construction company executing a major mining project in Western Canada.

The Role:
The Construction Manager is responsible for ensuring that projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards. The Construction Manager must fully understand the project scope, schedule and deliverables and is responsible for assigning specific project resources to meet the project requirements.

The successful candidate will have previous experience working with an EPC and be willing to work a rotational cycle of 3w on, 2w off, fly in/out to Site in Saskatchewan.

Responsibilities and Primary Tasks

•Oversee execution of project scope of work and budget.
•Coordinate the execution of the Prime Contract.
•Ensure all permits, approvals, sub-contracts, agreements and any other required documents are in place prior to project start.
•Ensure that Health and Safety Manual is strictly adhered to and that local rules and regulations and provincial legislative requirements are met.
•Review project safety requirements with the Corporate Health & Safety Manager.
•Thoroughly review all Project documents, plans, and specifications and establish a Project Tendering Plan that considers all aspects of the project. .
•Prepare Subcontract recommendations based on the response to a competitive tender.
•Prepare Project Master Schedule with input from the superintendent and subcontractors.
•Monitor and update the schedule as required, and distribute to appropriate stakeholders as necessary. Keep Senior Management and the Project Owner informed of schedule status.
•Review and process Project Shop Drawings to ensure submissions comply with Contract requirements and site dimensions and are coordinated with other construction disciplines.
•Establish Project specific QA/QC checklists and review weekly.
•Complete a Project closeout process, internal inspections and punch list.
•Develop and manage Project commissioning and handover plan.
•Work with appropriate Accounting Department staff to confirm payment milestones, establish a Project billing format, and manage and process monthly Progress Billings.
•Review and approve field Purchase Orders.
•Process Project Changes, including pricing, issuance of Changes Orders to Sub-Trades, and update Project Budgets.
•Review and determine major equipment requirements with the Project Superintendent, including temporary heating systems, cranes, hoists, and other major equipment.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•A degree or diploma in a Construction- or Engineering-related discipline
•Minimum fifteen (15) years of related construction experience.
•Ten (10) years experience as a Project Manager overseeing a multi-disciplined building project on an Industrial site.
•Extensive wood frame construction management experience.
•A track record of successfully completing projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and meeting the highest standards for quality.
•The ability to plan, develop and monitor project schedules.
•Proficiency in the use of Excel, Word and scheduling software programs.
•Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
•Ability to manage one or more Projects with varying degrees of complexity and with values over $100M.
