The Company:
Our client, a major international Engineering, Procurement & Construction company, requires expertise for their ongoing mega-projects in Alberta.

This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
· As part of the Construction Team based at the engineering office in Calgary, the electrical construction specialist will interface with the design team and the client project team in a supporting role, providing construction and execution input during the development of engineering work packages.
· Review and input to new Overhead 72kV Power distribution systems within a Mining – Tailings area in addition to relocating existing infrastructure is a significant part of the work scope.
· Construction and execution feasibility in wiring methodologies and build strategies specific to electrical field works are examined by the construction specialist so that optimum design features that reduce or eliminate execution risks are considered.
· Input and review construction sequence charts and support Project Engineering and client in sequence reviews as required.
· Construction input to Construction Risk Assessments in support of the design team and the client execution team.
· Support Project Engineers with construction input as requested.
· Assisting Estimating in development of estimates and input to cost estimating for personnel, equipment and material requirements for each of several projects that are being designed at the same time.
· Interface with client site execution team in the resolution of issues and concerns that arise through the execution phase of work at site.
· Attend project meetings to assist in constructability issues or any other concerns with a construction or execution element.
· Participate in Site visits to review plant and equipment in addition to site areas where project works will be executed. Feedback to design so that clashes and interferences with existing equipment is considered during the design.
· Review engineering packages from a construction perspective to assure potential execution risks and hazards are mitigated.
· Willing to support the team and work outside discipline boundaries during peak work loads.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
· Journeyman Electrical Trade designation.
· Master Electrician trade designation in addition to Inter-Provincial designation considered an asset.
· Construction management experience in a lead role or at the Superintendent level considered an asset.
· A minimum of 10 years industrial electrical construction experience that includes power distribution systems of a type and voltage level that are covered above.
· Oil Sands Plant experience
· Planning & Scheduling experience including a working knowledge of work planning systems and tools are required.
· Ability to work at all stages of the Project works from early development to detail design and provide detailed construction input accordingly.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Person should be more electrical than instrumentation and controls
