The Company:
Our Client, a major owner/operator, is looking for a Construction Manager for one of their major projects in North Eastern British Columbia.
This role will be based out of Calgary during the earlier phases of the project and migrate to site in preparation and during construction.

The Role:
The project will be executed by the Ownerside company as the Construction Manager. During the pre-FID stage of the project, the Construction Superintendant will work together with the Senior Construction Lead and Construction Engineers to establish the systems, processes and work face plans required for lean and effective construction management of the project. The Construction Superintendant will also provide construction input to the engineering design and procurement activities.

At site, the Construction Superintendent is the owner’s site representative (OSR) accountable for providing leadership and direction in the safe execution of the Project. The primary objectives of this role includes the direct oversight of planning, scheduling, mobilization of equipment and resources, execution of construction works, mechanical completion of facilities and commissioning / handover of finished project ready for operation. All of the above objectives are to be undertaken with strict adherence to the overarching safety goal of “harm to none” and “everyone home safely always”.

This Project will enter into the FEED phase July 1, 2012 with a target FID for latter half of 2013. Early works involving site preparation will commence spring 2013 with piling, etc starting winter of 2013/2014. Onsite construction will start in 2014. Offsite module construction will start towards the end of 2013.

This position will start in Calgary on a regular work week basis (40 hrs/week) during FEED. This position will transition to the field (Peace River) once onsite construction commences (late 2013 to early 2014). The field position will be on a rotational basis, most likely a 10/4. Fly in / fly out and camp accommodations will be provided.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• A recognized construction professional with a minimum of 15yrs site experience
• Strong contractor management skills including leadership in the area of HSE performance
• At least 5 years experience managing contractors
• Proven experience getting best value from various types of contracts (lump sum, T&M, etc.)
• A track record of successfully completing projects
• Proven experience in leading integrated teams (incl. owner, 3rd party, contractors)
• Experience executing Greenfield projects.
• A proven track record of delivering safe projects on schedule and within budget

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
o Meet or beat the corporate safety indicators including 0 LTI’s
o 95%+ of site workforce understands and believes in GOAL ZERO
o 100% of site workforce sees the Construction Superintendent as an HSE leader
o Spends a minimum of 30% of his time at the work face

o All team members have self developed Roles & Responsibilities
o Team members have an annual mission statement for work and homelife (optional)

o A progress S curve is developed within 30 days of contractor mobilization
o The progress curve is updated a minimum of once per 10/4 rotation
o The Level 4 Schedule is posted and updated a minimum of once every 2 weeks
o Safe productivity targets are established for T&M contracts, posted and actions taken to achieve as necessary

Commercial (savings)
o Establishes an opportunity list for cost reduction during the pre-planning phase and tracks performance. Target: 5% construction cost saving.
o Manages resources and overheads in line with budge
