The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, requires expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Canada.

This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
The superintendent will be responsible for all aspects of field construction, which include detailed direction of construction specification, budget and schedule for field. The budget for the projects is valued at +$400million per annum.

Responsibilites:
• Assists construction manager success with site wide customer relationships through proactive interaction with project owners.
• Serve as the company’s representative responsible for continuous field supervision, coordination, and completion of work. Manage construction crews during completion of field work to ensure compliance with the contract documents. Including: Evaluate workmanship and quality; Ensure the project schedule is met; Review any plan discrepancies in the field; Coordinate activities between subcontractors and resolve any disputes which may arise on the job site; Supervise subcontractors on remediation and construction projects; Keep daily work performance logs and production records; Monitor costs in materials, subcontractor services and labour; Monitor production rates during remediation / construction work in order to complete work within costs and schedule; Inspect remediation / construction work to enforce conformity to contract specification
• Monitor all contractors, trade performance, progress and productivity. Coordinate plans with field engineers to overcome any inconsistencies.
• Coordinate with Health and Safety Specialist and report to the Construction Manager or General Superintendent on site who will direct day to day activities in projects.
• A wide array of duties which will vary from day to day depending on the progress of the project and unforeseen events

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Relevant Technical trades certification complete with a minimum 12 years experience on mega construction developments
• Solid Oral and Written Communications skills that demonstrate leadership skills.
• Successful team building and skills retention practice
• Solid organization and follow through capabilties.
• Appropriate computer skills which include Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. A good understanding of scheduling software
• Working in an office environment or out of a field office at the construction site to monitor the overall construction project. Travel will be required.
• Superior user of related computing products such as Microsoft Office and Project Scheduling software
