The Role:
The Drilling & Well Construction Supervisor position provides direct supervision to contractors and contract supervisors in order to execute wellsite construction, road construction and maintenance operations. This position has the responsibility to ensure alignment of activities with Asset Team priorities and is accountable for Health Safety and Environment for construction and maintenance operations


Ensure that field construction and maintenance activities are conducted according to D&W and Site Operation expectations.
Direct accountability for work performed:
Project Management:
Managing scope (proactive communication of scope changes)
Cost Controls (Proactive records mgt. & spend analysis)

Total Loss Management:
Accountable for HSE activities within the assigned areas
Ensuring strict compliance with corporate and regulatory procedures and policies.
Responsible for planning, scouting, surveying, cost estimating and construction activities associated with all projects
Involved in evaluating options regarding drilling waste disposal and cost/risk assessments
Due to 24 hour continuous Drilling and Well operations and Production Operations, work in many instances may involve working an irregular schedule
Work with Procurement to ensure that work is compliant with internal and external requirements
Provide technical requirements for Invitation To Tender (ITT)
Ensure contractor strategies meet business objectives
Relations with various government agencies require the incumbent to exercise discretion in all directives and correspondence with them to ensure safety and efficiency are not compromised
Provide technical expertise to troubleshoot major unplanned events
Provides leadership and direction to contractors and contract field supervisors
Will be responsible for implementing the Drilling and Well department’s strategies and goals and liaise with production and facilities
Committed to principal of achieving zero harm to the people and the environment

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Must have a minimum of 10 years experience in the Oil and Gas Industry
• Construction Practices - Requires experience using different civil construction methods including detailed knowledge of winter/summer lease and road design needs site areas
• Surveying – Working knowledge on the surveying of wellsites and roads on deeded and crown lands throughout Western Canada
• Possess an understanding of the Regulatory frameworks as they pertain to the energy sector in Western Canada
• Ability to effectively interact with Stakeholder Mgt. team, Environmental Planners, Risk Mgt, Production Operations, Projects, and Drilling and Well
• Understanding and experience in drilling waste disposal
• Certifications required include H2S Awareness, Standard First Aid & CPR, ATV Training, WHIMIS, TDG, Ground Disturbance, & IRP 16 training
• Will include being involved in scouting access roads and well sites. This will involve extensive physical excursion

• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Strong computer skills - all reporting done by computer
• Ability to understand and explain issues in a clear and concise manner
• Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships both within the Corporation as well as Partner Groups, Service Companies and Regulatory agencies
