The Role:
Primarily but not limited to the bidding, administration, monitoring and reporting of contracts and sub-contracts for Large size Mining project in Eastern Canada. Knowledge of purchasing & managing contract for procurement of heavy industrial machinery (mining) is an asset. Rapport with EPC in Mississauga to ensure all contract specification are compliant. Rapport with Owner-operator sites in Canada & have good working knowledge of Mandarin & ability to deal effectively with external investors (China). Some international & domestic travel required.

The duties and job functions shall include but are not limited to the following:
• Execute the bid, evaluation and award processes for Mining Project Contract(s)
• Advise the Senior Supply Chain Management in the development, coordination and implementation of Contract processes as applicable for the Project.
• Manage construction, engineering and miscellaneous contract and claims
• Mitigate project risk through negotiation of variation orders, new contracts and contractual disputes
• Compile compilation of commercial/contractual recommendations
• Facilitate commercial/contractual meetings
• Prepare and issue commercial correspondence and communication
• Travel to field may be required
• Liaise with key functional groups including Finance, Legal and Project Controls.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Business, Commerce or Engineering Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.

15+ years work experience in similar role with successful experience in negotiating, drafting, interpreting and administering significant contracts.
Prior experience dealing with a variety of contracts related to major project development.
Knowledge of large size machinery in mining is an asset.
Ability & experienced in handling successfully large dollar value contracts (Millions).
A strong understanding of contractual issues related to risk and liability complimented with a strong background with commercial issues related to long term value is important.
The ability to demonstrate competency in Microsoft office applications is considered an asset.

• Proven interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with a variety of personnel, and other industry participants, both internal and external.
• Ability to quickly assimilate new data, including highly technical information, and communicate same in layperson terms.
• Proven skills in effectively managing multiple tasks, often under pressure and within time constraints.
• Use initiative to independently recommend solutions based on logical assumptions and analysis of facts/data while considering constraints and impacts on the organization
