The Company:
A major EPCM Client working on multiple projects within Western Australia within the Mining and Minerals Sector.

The Role:
The Contracts and Procurement Officer plans, directs, and coordinates activities of contracts to ensure that goals or objectives of the project are accomplished within prescribed contractual, time frame and funding parameters. The position is responsible to the Contracts Manager.

Responsibilities:
•Assists the contract manager in the preparation of the project contract plan.
•Prepares contractual documents as required at every stage of the contract process from prequalification to contract closeout.
•Manages contracts from prequalification through to contract close-out.
•Reports to the project manager and contracts manager on contract status.
•Reviews all documentation issued to the contractor and advises the project manager and contracts manager where such documentation may result in a contractual impact.
•Assesses, reviews, and advises project manager and contracts manager in respect of contractor claims for variations, progress claims and extensions of time.
•Prepares and manages agreement of contract variations.
•Provides the project manager and contracts manager with updates on contractor performance.
•Assists the contracts manager in the resolution of contract disputes.
•Ensures that all commercial requirements of the contracts are satisfied.
•Is responsible for ensuring that the necessary quality management, expediting, cost management and engineering requirements pertinent to the management of the contract or required to ensure that contract obligations are met.

This position is not authorised to sign documents.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Good working knowledge of contract law.
•Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g. Commerce, Engineering, Quantity Surveying or Law).

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
•Post tertiary education experience in the administration and management of contracts and contractors.
•Demonstrated commercial acumen in the engineering and construction environment.
