The Role:
This job specification details the requirements for the role of Contracts Manger, based in Aberdeen reporting directly to the Group Procurement Manager.

- Contract Management
- Contract Negotiation
- Contract Development
- System Development
- Supervision and Leadership of Materials and Procurement team

Contract Management
- Manage commercial aspects of the operational service contracts at St. Fergus and act as main point of contact for commercial matters
- Liaise with and provide advice and support to the appointed contract representative in the overall management of operational contracts
- In conjunction with the nominated contract representative monitor contractor performance
- Develop and maintain a plan for the placement, extension and award of operational contracts
- Identify opportunities for cost efficiencies and deliver value for money
- Maintain contractual records and documentation

Contract Negotiation
- Manage the award process for operational contracts
- Liaise with the appointed contract representative in the award process overall management of operational contracts
- Identify and mitigate commercial risk
- Liaise with legal team as necessary in the negotiation of operational contracts

Contract Development
- Review and develop contract strategy at St. Fergus
- Review potential and value of cross site agreements
- Lead development of new contacts as required

System Development
- Develop, maintain and communicate policies and procedures for the management and control of operational contracts in line with policy and guidelines

Management of Materials & Procurement Team
- Act as line manager for and manage the materials and procurement team currently comprising a buyer and materials analyst

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
-CIPS qualified.
-Experience of commercial management of complex contracts
-Proven administration, management & co-ordination of contracts, from initial preparation onwards. To include preparation, review, and agreement of T&C’s, commercial schedules, performance monitoring, timeframes & problem resolution.
-Understanding of purchasing principles and practices.
-Understanding of basic legal principles
-Experience of managing complex contracts in a commercial or project management capacity
-Risk/opportunity management experience from a commercial perspective
-Experience of formulation and management of contracts across lines of business (capability, sustainability and availability) as well as negotiation.
-Relevant experience within a purchasing department.
-Relevant experience in the energy, oil, gas, petrochem or chemical industry in a procurement and/or contract management role.

-Supervisory, coaching and mentoring of individuals. Including setting of section / department

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
-Degree qualified in engineering, procurement or project management discipline.
-Policy & best practice research, development and implementation.
-Awareness of ISO 9001
-Commercial awareness of the UK energy markets, organisations, legislation and regulations.
-A working knowledge of contracts, contract drafting and current legislation.
-Best practice for commercial negotiation for major capital & revenue procurement projects.
-Business management awareness – familiarity with business/financial planning processes and related demand/Customer management skills
