The Company:
Our client, a major owner/operating company, requires expertise for their ongoing oil sands mega-projects in Alberta.

This position is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only.

The Role:
The Contract Representative will be responsible for implementing contracting and procurement strategies for capital projects required to meet project specific goals and achieve best value for stakeholders. This includes contributing to the guidance of business partners through CP strategy development as part of the project delivery framework. This also includes negotiating with contractors and managing the development, execution, and fulfillment of contractual commitments required to execute projects. The Contract Representative’s will be required periodically to manage and direct the activities of the EP Contracts team who is mandated to conduct the Contract Management activities on behalf of the client.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
This is a role for an experienced contracts engineer/administrator from the oil and gas, mining or other asset-intensive industries who possesses a mix of technical credibility and very well developed influencing and negotiating skills. Past experience in a project environment specifically managing contracts and purchase orders in projects is essential. More specifically, all candidates will be assessed against the following critical competencies:

• Functional competence, ideally core contracting and procurement skills but willing to consider candidates with broad commercial skills
• Negotiating skills, as demonstrated by a clear track record of success in gaining agreement on large, complex deals. It is preferable that these skills have been demonstrated on the client side, but experience earned in selling roles will be actively considered.
• Influencing and leadership abilities, as demonstrated by a proven ability to interact with and co ordinate a variety of functional areas (e

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• The capacity to develop relationships of trust based on competence, integrity and commitment.
• The potential to work at a remote location fully participating in the project team while remaining connected to your virtual team led from Shell centre in Calgary
• The ability to intervene effectively when it is required to ensure core processes is complied with or specific issues have to be dealt with.
• The ability to interface with a large number and diverse group of stakeholders. Due to the nature of projects, there will be a requirement to have interactions from a full spectrum of stakeholders ranging from admin staff in an EPC office
