The Company:
Our Oil & Gas client is in need of a Contracts Specialist for a 1 year contract opportunity in Houston, TX.

The Role:
This role will be respeonsible for functional Supply Chain leadership and effective risk management for contracting goods and services. Primary accountabilities are commercial contract tendering/negotiating for goods and services relating to onshore shale oil & gas upstream and downstream activities. Interfacing with key internal stakeholders to drive best practice, developing & executing contract strategy & sourcing plan, optimization of the vendor base while meeting business requirements, and streamlining processes to reduce non-value added activities. The candidate must demonstrate delivery of commercial contracts and projects while managing and coordinating direction from multiple interfaces.

• Contracting Policies, Processes and Procedures - work with other stakeholders (HSEC, tax, legal, risk, finance, etc) to drive continuous improvement of processes & procedures emphasizing standardization where possible
• Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key vendors to ensure best service, commercial terms, and surety of services
• Ensure 'best value' achieved by competitive tendering, effective negotiation and contract structure
• Align contractual, commercial and risk guidelines and approval policies to ensure effective governance
• Awareness of Functional activities and ensuring that the contracts team is working closely with Contract Sponsors/Business Users and other functions to ensure contracting processes are implemented in timely fashion to meet business requirements (Contracting Strategies, Risk Assessments, Tendering Process, Negotiation, Contract Documents etc.)

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• University Degree preferred
• 5 years Supply or Oilfield related experience preferred
• Preferred experience in a Corporate Headquarters operations supporting onshore E&P activities (drilling, exploration, production) specifically contracting and procurement for goods and services
• A comprehensive understanding of contracting for oilfield services
• Market intelligence development & analysis
• Project planning and management
• Risk management skills
• Problem solving skills
• Supply Chain Contracting & Procurement knowledge and experience
