The Company:
Our Client is a major Oil and gas operator and has operations though out the world.

The Role:
The Control & Automation Engineer will deliver specialist technical support and assurance for all integrated control and safety system (ICSS) hardware and software systems for all onshore, offshore topsides, hull or subsea systems and Research and Development. They will be expected to work across the field of control & automation engineering for operations. The individual should have experience working in ICSS design and operation at oil and gas processing facilities and be knowledgeable of all relevant industry standards and practices.

The work includes:

- Integrated Control and Safety System (ICSS) and Plant Logic Controller (PLC) conceptual and front-end design, installation and verification for modifications and projects.
- Commissioning and technical troubleshooting of all facilities.
- Working on all Alarm rationalisation studies.
- Design and assessment of operator training simulators, data historians, human machine interfaces and ICSS digital security.
- Optimisation of plant performance and provide recommendations for equipment operation or maintenance improvements.
- Take an active or Lead role in Control HAZOPs and Root Cause and Failure Analysis (RCFA).
- Development and maintenance of internal instrument and control Engineering Technical Practices (ETPs).
- Involvement with the development of industry standards and practices, e.g. IEC, EEMUA and/or ISA, NEC, API.
- Provide technical guidance on application of codes, standards, project design criteria and ETPs.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
- Extensive experience with instrumentation and control systems.
- Operator training simulators, data historians, loop tuning, alarm systems, digital security and human machine interfaces experience.
- Knowledge of industry and government standards such as IEC, EEMUA and ISA, NEC, API requirements for facilities.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
- Chartered or Professional engineer.
- Project and operations experience in lead control/instrument engineering.
- Knowledge of process hazards analysis techniques including HAZOP and LOPA.
- Significant experience working with Safety Instrumented Systems.
- Knowledge of field instrumentation, compressor control systems, Foundation Fieldbus and fire & gas systems.
- Experience with advanced control design and maintenance.
