The Role:
Reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader, this position will fill a key role within the operations team in the project. The successful applicant will be highly motivated with strong coaching, mentoring and interpersonal skills as well as a solid foundation and experience in the Instrument discipline.

The initial focus of the role is to provide practical input into the design development activities on the project to ensure that the design can be successfully maintained to the required and correct standards.

As the project progresses the role will focus on coaching and developing national staff to the level required to support the future asset. Coaching national technicians will be a key deliverable during commissioning, start up and operations support activities.

The role will be initially based at the EPC contractor’s office in Leatherhead. In 2016 the role will relocate to the topsides fabrication yard in Baku on a rotational basis to support project construction, commissioning and maintenance activities. Following sail away in 2017 the role will then transition to the offshore platform, supporting hook up and commissioning activities and into platform start-up and operation.

The post represents an opportunity to gain involvement and experience on a complex subsea project in a rapidly developing area. The key focus for the project is to deliver safe and reliable operations and the development and mentoring of the national workforce.

• Demonstrate good safety leadership and excellent safety behaviours at all times
• Have a thorough knowledge of Safe Systems of Work, especially relating to Control of Work
• Provide technical (Instrument) input to project design and equipment packages including:
- participating in HAZOP, LOPA, operability and risk reviews
- incorporating lessons learned from other regions
- ensuring reliability and maintainability standards are met
• The project is committed to nationalization and a robust National Technician training and coaching program is a key project deliverable. To support this initiative the successful applicant will be required to provide:
- mentoring and coaching assistance to develop national technicians
- assurance on the competency of the offshore technicians
• Support Factory Acceptance Testing
• Provide input to the maintenance build for instrument equipment
• Provide input to maintenance sparing requirements

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• A strong personal commitment to Health, Safety and Environmental performance.
• Experience of coaching and developing technicians within competency management framework
• Knowledge of Maintenance management principals and planning process
• An understanding of control and instrument aspects of maintaining offshore gas production and utilities equipment
• Experience in projects encompassing construction, commissioning and start-up
• Experience in offshore gas maintenance and operations
• Experience of major project operational readiness inclusive of maintenance build
• Self-motivation and ability to work both independently and as a good team player
• Good communication and organization skills

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Working overseas in a multicultural environment
• Familiarity with subsea systems and topsides interfaces with these systems, including instrumentation requirements, control systems and chemical injection
