The Role:

Our client, a leading offshore power technology company, are looking to appoint an EC&I Engineer for their team based in Edinburgh. This is a stand alone role working within a multi discipline team where the successful applicant will provide SCADA and PLC control and instrumentation systems expertise for our offshore technologies. The EC&I Engineer will lead on design, procurement, installation, configuration and operation of SCADA, PLC and power generation systems.


Key Responsibilities:
* Company lead on all control, instrumentation and electrical engineering issues
* Identify and ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards and health, safety and environmental legislation
* Close coordination with engineering, project and contractor teams to deliver project requirements safely, on budget and to schedule
* Work with third party verification bodies to secure design certifications
* Creating CI&E system design specifications, commissioning and fault-finding
* Operation and configuration of SCADA, PLC and data collection & storage systems
* Tender appraisal,equipment and supplier selection
* Interfacing and managing contractors both on and off-site
* Contribute to the design, development and construction of grid connection infrastructure, ensuring compliance with grid codes and grid connection agreements


Key skills / attributes:
* Time served apprenticeship in a C&I discipline, supplemented by either a HNC, HND or equivalent, or degree or equivalent in Instrument or Electrical Engineering
* Significant project engineering experience
* Ability to use initiative and demonstrate creativity
* Excellent communication, numeracy and written communication skills
* Proven experience of working with control and instrumentation systems
* Extensive experience of DCS/SCADA and PLC configuration and programming
* Experience of power generation systems and generation connection to the grid
* Instrumentation process engineering and/or electrical generation within the renewable or oil and gas sector, or within a similar industry
* Ability to demonstrate an innovative approach to investigating and introducing new C&I concepts
* An understanding of installation design for the marine environment e.g. corrosion mitigation measures
* Application of all relevant industry standards covering electrical and control system installations
* Experience in site commissioning and operational activities and associated safe systems of work
* Experienced in project management, including controls, planning and estimating and preparation of deliverables / work package
Experience of Instrumentation and measurement systems, Marine grade instrumentation and multiplexers
* Equipment and acceptance testing
* Data transmission media including fibre optics, coax and screened twisted pair
* Experience with ABB’s 800xA Extended Automation System (very highly desirable)
* Experience with HV electrical systems (desirable)


Remuneration:
Attractive base salary commensurate with experience, pension, share options, private healthcare, above average holiday entitlement, travel allowance

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Time served apprenticeship in a C&I discipline, supplemented by either a HNC, HND or equivalent, or degree or equivalent in Instrument or Electrical Engineering.
• Significant experience of project engineering experience.
• Proven ability to reach practical, cost-effective and safe solutions.
• Excellent attention to detail to aim for complete availability of C&I systems.
• A strong influencer who is solutions driven and self-motivated.
• Ability to use initiative and demonstrate creativity.
• Excellent communication, numeracy and written communication skills.
• Computer literate and familiar with IT hardware.
• Ability to work in a team.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
• Specific recognised qualification (academic or vocational) in control instrumentation.
• Experience with ABB's 800xA Extended Automation System.
• Experience with HV electrical systems and formal Quality Assurance schemes.
