The Company:
Our client is an Engineering Services company, who are an international technical consultancy, providing a range of services including licence to operate, asset management, manufacturing improvement and capital investment to customers in the chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, manufacturing and consumer industries worldwide

The Role:
This role will be based in Ludvika, Sweden for 2 years then Inverness, Scotland supporting an on-going project

The work consists of developing C&P (Control & Protection) software for HVDC (High Voltage DC Transmissions) applications, test of the software in laboratory, test of the software in FST (factory system test) environment and test of the of the software at site. Once the HVDC is operational and handed over to the customer, the selected engineer will also participate in service activities.

As a member of the service team for HVDC, the candidate will produce engineering deliverables such as HVDC C&P diagrams, C&P application software, selection of auxiliary relays and components, test procedures, test records, and interact with the other project team members, the customer, and suppliers of goods and services.

The development phase, laboratory and FST tests will be performed in the global technology center for HVDC applications in Ludvika, Sweden. The testing on site will be carried out in HVDC projects executed in UK. During one typical project execution, the selected person is expected to stay in our global technology center for about 12 months during design and testing, and on site for another 6 months during commissioning, as a minimum.

The development of the C&P software will be done using standard software platform HiDraw and control system MACH.

- Prepare list / schedule of technical deliverables
- Prepare HVAC/HVDC C&P diagrams
- Develop C&P application software for HVDC systems based on settings/specifications provided by the System Engineer
- Participate in progress meetings (Internal, with Customer and with Sub-suppliers)
- Interface with other project team members (C&P Team Leader, PM, Scheduling, Documentation, EH&S, Construction etc.)
- Produce I/O lists
- Prepare drawing packages for commissioning
- Prepare test procedures and test records
- Prepare software modifications based on the test results
- Participate in laboratory and FST tests
- Participate in commissioning activities in sites across UK
- Participate in Service activity across UK

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering (preferably in Power Systems)
- At least 2 years of related experience in the field of substations and industrial electrification projects;
- Good knowledge of related products
- Knowledge of Power Electronics is a plus
- Knowledge of the electrical standards (ANSI, IEC, BS and others)
- Good communication skills, leadership, initiative
- Critical thinking and analytical skills
- Must be precise, organized, flexible & autonomous
- Knowledge of computer tools required
- Availability to travel within UK and abroad for extended periods
