The Role:
PURPOSE:
Responsible for the safe and efficient daily operation of facilities, safety systems and utilities to ensure production of hydrocarbons in accordance with production plans, targets and specifications.

JOB CONTENT:
* Project Phase
Assist in the development of the Plant Operations Group.
Assist / partake the Plant Training Programme.
Monitor factors within the detailed design contractor which have an operational consequence.
Provide Operational Input to detailed design / construction contractor.
Assist in development of operations procedures and practices for wells/pipeline.
Assist in the optimisation of control room facilities and associated man machine interfaces.
Assist in identification of equipment spares.
Assist in development of well intervention controls from an operational perspective.
Assist in operational readiness for handover from the Project team.
Assist with the operations team to optimise commissioning and acceptance of facilities from the project team.

* Operational Phase
Deputise for Shift Engineer as required.
Assist in the development of the Plant Operations Group.
Assist / partake the Plant Training Programme.
Co-ordinate activities connected with process start-up, run and shutdown.
Direct the activities of the Operations Technicians.
Ensure the equipment and systems for which you have responsibility are fit for purpose and instigate corrective action as required.
Ensure product and product effluent quality specifications are met.
Control operation of the Plant DCS Systems.
Submit daily reports.
Submit and sign all Control Room logs / reports and maintain all relevant records and information.
Perform Emergency Response tasks as required.
Control the activities of specialist vendor personnel as required.
Work within operations budget

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Working under the direction of the Shift Engineer:
1. Assist in the continuous, safe and efficient operations of the plant and facilities at DS1 Or DS2 so as to maintain the specified quality and quantity of product to all customers.
2. Adhere to and promote the safety and environmental procedures to ensure own safety, safety of personnel, of process plant and the environment.
3. Respond to any emergency situation to provide first line emergency response in accordance with the emergency procedures and to assist local emergency services under direction of the Incident Controller if required.
4. Control all work in their area of accountability through the implementation and compliance with the Permit to Work process so as to prevent any undue risks or unsafe acts.
5. Conduct Toolbox talks with work crews with emphasis on hazard assessment and mitigation requirements6. Report or communicate any abnormal condition or potential equipment failure that could cause unsafe operation or affect export product quality or quantity and take effective action as directed by the Shift Engineer.
7. Carry out first line diagnostics on equipment and routine maintenance tasks within their specific disciplines (electrical/instrument or mechanical).
8. Update and make availableall relevant logs during their shift period, so as to ensure an accurate and comprehensive record of plant and equipment is maintained, and any abnormal conditions are communicated to the oncoming shift/relief.
9. Assist with the training of new shift members to be conversant with plant operating procedures and Permit to Work process.
10. Monitor and maintain log of environmental responsibility aspects as required by site authorisation.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS/ SPECIAL CHALLENGES:
Conduct on the job training and mentoring of local national operations staff in the safe and efficient operation of Majnoon production assets
Conduct local national staff assessments and have an input into Mentee training records
Maintain a flexible and positive attitude (especially with regard to the difficult working environment and highly focussed safety and security procedures)

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Fluent in Arabic and English
Middle East experience
Discipline expert in oil and gas plant operations with minimum 5 years as a control panel (DCS) operator
Mentoring/coaching experience
Recognised assessor qualification (D31/32 or A1)
Must be competent in operation of production stations with DCS control systems
