The Company:
With operations across the world, our client uses innovation and technology to deliver energy to a growing world. They are currently leading an integrated LNG Project in PNG that includes gas production and processing facilities including liquefaction and storage facilities.

The Role:
As the Machinery Controls Engineer you will be responsible for all phases of machinery controls system commissioning and startup on behalf of the Project. You will frequently interface with I&C Engineers responsible for other systems (PCS/SIS), Machinery Engineers, Process Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Systems Completion Engineers in order to facilitate machinery control system commissioning.

Responsibilities include:

Ensure that EPC and machinery control vendor Site Acceptance Test (SAT), loop check, function check, startup, and tuning procedures meet Project objectives
Witness machinery controls system SATs, loop checks, and function checks and confirm that test procedures are followed
Provide leadership of machinery control system pre-startup safety reviews on behalf of the Project
Witness machinery solo runs, duty runs, and process startups
Witness gas turbine fuel control tuning, performance control tuning, anti-surge control tuning, and generator synchronizing and load testing
Record observed deficiencies as punch list items in the systems completion tracking system and proactively engage the EPC and machinery controls vendors to quickly close any open punch list items
Participate in regular progress and problem resolution meetings with EPC and machinery controls vendors
When design changes are required in order to meet Technical Specifications or other objectives defined by Project management, provide consultation to the EPC, machinery controls vendors, and PMT Field Engineering and advocate the solution that best meets the requirements of the Project
Ensure that Management of Change (MOC) procedures are followed by the EPC and machinery controls vendors when executing design changes
Provide Project Supervisor with regular reports on progress of machinery controls commissioning
Exhibit safety leadership to EPC, machinery vendor, and craftsman and participate in regular Project safety walks
Extend boundaries of defined job responsibilities when required to achieve Project objectives

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Expert understanding of turbo machinery operation, including gas turbine fuel control and sequencing, protective functions, and auxiliary system sequencing
Expert understanding of compressor performance control and anti-surge control
Expert understanding of electrical generator synchronizing and load control
Expert understanding of instrument installation details, including transmitter impulse hookup, signal cable terminations, signal cable shield grounding, and segregation of instrument earth (IE) and protective earth (PE)
Good understanding of:

­ GE Mark VIe control hardware
­ CCC Series 5 control hardware, and
­ TrainView HMI system

Good understanding of Bentley Nevada 3500 machinery monitoring system and System 1 condition monitoring and diagnostics system
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology preferred
