The Role:
Provide corrosion engineering services and consultancy for company production, processing and transportation facilities to maintain a safe operating environment, anticipate and respond to corrosion issues likely to result in failure, damage or degradation, be fully compliant with statutory obligations in a common and consistent manner for the North Sea Operating Units.

The Corrosion Engineer is accountable for implementing the corrosion management strategy for the asset, this includes; corrosion risk assessments, chemical treatment (corrosion inhibition), monitoring of corrosion / erosion probes and coupons, corrosion trending, fluid sampling and analysis. The ‘End Result’ for the Corrosion Engineer is to produce an annual report on the asset drawing conclusions and recommendations on the corrosion programmes in place.

Primary Functions:
•Work towards Topside Integrity Team Goals and NSBU critical operating tasks.
•Comply with legislation applicable to the asset.
•Carry out & update corrosion risk analyses for the asset(s).
•Prepare and work within the asset annual corrosion budget spend and update forecasts.
•Develop and maintain the corrosion management systems required for condition monitoring (i.e. data bases), corrosion management work-scopes and related procedures.
•Define and provide corrosion & erosion prevention, detection, monitoring and control management services.
•Review and report corrosion results and assess “fitness for purpose” and remaining operational life of assets.
•Review, interpret and report corrosion information e.g. monthly reports of water analysis.
•Update and maintain accurate corrosion and erosion documentation, reports and reporting systems.
•Report on condition of systems monitored.
•Analyse and report corrosion related failures.
•Raise and track anomalies from developing corrosion threats found, propose recommendations for remediation.
•Assist other Integrity Management teams on systems corrosion prevention and integrity management
•Undertake corrosion trending and part of the RBI integrity review process.
•Lead the interdisciplinary Asset Integrity Corrosion Management (AICM) team and Solids Management team.
•Administer material failure investigations.
•Preparation of monthly and annual asset integrity reports.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
-Experience in oil and gas related corrosion engineering.
-Fully conversant with UK regulatory environment, e.g. PSSR, PSR, Safety Case etc.
-Strong team working skills.
-Accomplished planning and organisational skills.
-Effective communication and networking skills.
-Proactive approach with ability to work independently

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
-Educated to degree level (corrosion or chemistry) or satisfactory equivalent e.g. HND/HNC plus vocational certificates.
-A member of a professional body e.g. Institute of Corrosion Engineers.
-Track record of continuous professional development e.g. Chartered/Incorporated/Associated Engineer via a recognised engineering body.
