The Role:

Continuous Improvement & Innovation - Continuously develops ways of working by seeking feedback from colleagues and key stakeholders. Complies with Nexen project management disciplines, effectively utilises knowledge databases and actively participates in project reviews

Capability Development - Looks for opportunities to develop technical and personal skills both by formal learning interventions and work experience. Coaches team colleagues where appropriate and demonstrates a personal commitment to lifelong learning

People Processes - Engages with people processes in a positive and timely manner. Demonstrates a commitment to the spirit of such processes.

Technical/Functional

- Develop and prepare Monthly Maintenance Reports that help the business understand and control maintenance spend.

- For maintenance spend assist in the budget preparation by creation of templates and coordinating partner and corporate budgets to meet set deadlines. Assist in the preparation and presentation of budget material for internal and partner review.

- Hold regular meetings with Budget Holders in order to help them better understand, manage and control their budgets; provide accurate VOWD/Reforecasts.

- Responsible for ensuring the ledger reflects the correct position for maintenance spend and the accruals ; recodes and allocations are done in a timely and accurate manner

- Provide cover for other team members within the Producing Ops group during vacation and short term project work.

- Liaise with other departments to ensure they have a thorough understanding of the business processes as they relate to their area of responsibility. Develop strong working relationship with all members of the asset team, representing financial matters in this sphere of activity.

- Support various initiatives, specifically in relation to issues affecting area of responsibility.

- Identify areas for improvement and concern.

- Provide support and guidance to Assistant Asset Accountant

- Ad-hoc - duties as requested by the Producing Operations - Accounting Lead

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Ability to perform a critical review of financial information
•Oil industry experience essential.
•Experience of accounting for Joint venture & Operations accounting preferred
•Experience of preparing Management reporting in a timely accurate manner
•Experience of budgeting for Field assets
•Excellent systems skills required - SAP experience preferred
•Good communication skills (both interpersonal and written)
