The Role:

•Analyse actual costs and forecast expenditure as directed and provide details on variances between budget and forecast
•Prepare OPEX and CAPEX budgets in conjunction with budget holders and as directed by the Senior Cost Controller
•Challenge forecasts and expenditure to ensure ‘value for money’ and consistency of approach within context of complex and dynamic environment
•Responsible for AFE control and reporting
•Prepare timely and accurate cost reporting for both internal and external clients
•Review cost allocation & charge-back mechanisms periodically, in conjunction with customers to ensure these remain equitable in a changing business environment
•Regularly forecast expenditure against budget, highlighting anomalies, whilst helping promote cost consciousness amongst budget holders
•Work proactively with peers within the department to ensure that data sent from the department is validated, timely and approved by the relevant personnel and in turn that data used from external departments is approved by the relevant authority in those areas
•Responsible for providing back up to the Cost Administrators in conjunction with Contract Representatives for amendments to commitments
•Progress invoice approval in role of financial authority and liaise with technical authorities
•Ensure correct coding is applied to all cost commitments
•Assist in the preparation of project cost estimates
•Assist with audit and SOX requirements as necessary
•Adhoc queries and response to Joint Venture Partners
•Provide support for JV Partner meetings as required by the Senior Cost Controller

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
•Preferably a graduate in a relevant discipline
•Previous experience in the oil/gas industry with cost experience in construction projects and/or brownfield modifications an advantage
•Detailed understanding of cost control / cost accounting
•General understanding of the oil and gas industry
•Analytical skills with a knowledge of financial analysis techniques and economic measures
•Computer literate, with experience of SAP, Excel and Powerpoint
•Team player with ability to work on own initiative
