Our client is a leading global oil and gas operating company.

The Role:
COST Analyst – Daily, Anchorage
The Field Cost Analyst supports the Area Operations Manager with financial matters related to operating the ongoing business. The position is based in Anchorage but will work closely with North Slope based operations staff such as On Site Managers, Team Leads, Planners, Schedulers, etc. The Operations Field Cost Analyst will ensure that the business transactions and results of the reporting entity are recorded, reported, and forecasted with integrity, transparency, and in a timely manner adhering to the company accounting policies and control standards.
This position solicits input from a broad range of Operations staff and interrogates financial systems in order to establish work-in place estimates for projects and general maintenance. Interrogation and investigation may lead to preparation of Journal Vouchers or transfer requests in order to maintain integrity of the financial data. This position leads and supports Operations in understanding their general maintenance and project financial issues. Further, this position maintains the “hopper” for prospective project activities and prepares Authorization For Expenditure (“AFE”) documents to establish the necessary funding in order to progress projects. In addition, this position provides assistance in developing budgets in support of Annual and Long-Term Plans. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills are required. This position will network closely with other Analysts and Finance team members in pursuit of best practices and standardized tools and processes. Daily interaction with operations managers at the facilities is a requirement of the position.

Financial analysis, reporting, and performance management
Track, analyze and forecast costs by facility and Area
Input monthly WIPs for Projects and general maintenance costs centers to accurately reflect committed costs
Provide Area Management with variance analysis for general maintenance and project spend and forecasts
Track and provide quality control for invoice approvals
Provide Area Management with monthly performance management reporting and ad-hoc reporting as necessary
Provide accounting with the necessary data to execute cost corrections
Planning and activity support
Maintain project “hopper” for prospective projects
Prepare AFE’s to obtain funding for project activity
Monitor spend and forecasts against AFE’s to proactively mitigate and/or initiate revisions prior to actual overruns
Coordinate development of operations budgets in support of annual and longer term budget cycles
Champion Finance Objectives
Champion cost management improvements through process, procedures or tools
Advise Area Management in financial issues to optimize business results
Help educate Operations personnel on the financial side of the business including budget categorization, reporting requirements, Work In Place estimates, Forecasts, Accruals, financial input requirements, etc.
Act as a liaison between Operations and Finance to resolve issues

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Strong analytical, financial or cost control, reporting and accounting skills
Good understanding of how Finance processes and systems operate, including key internal and third party provider interfaces
Understanding of system controls, financial controls, and risk assessment, and ability to interpret and communicate financial information with clarity
A proven track record of demonstrating: natural leadership, strong people and communication skill
Ability to influence others using networking and teamwork skills
Ability to manage multiple/conflicting priorities with a strong track record of timely delivery
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Business Objects.

ANY OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION: Minimum BA/BS and 5 years equivalent experience or AA and 7 years equivalent experience may be substituted. Local Candidates Preferred.
