The Company:
I am currently working on a Joint Venture programme between two of the world’s renowned business leaders on its multi-billion dollar growth plan across Western Australia. My client is leading and defining the international natural resources market. Since forming the partnership in 2008, they have already received over $7bn of capital investment. They employ over 6000 people based across 50 global locations, many of their contract staff have worked with them for over 5 years on average.

The Role:

Due to continuous expansion, I am now seeking two Cost Controllers to work on a new processing plant project in Western Australia. The role will see successful individuals put in place effective cost controls on the project, record and analyse costs and trends and to provide appropriate advice to key project personnel.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Develop home office engineering budgets and staff plans by working with the project teams
- Develop sub-consultant budgets by working with the project teams
- Track actual weekly labour costs, and analyse data to ensure charges are within budget, and charges are correctly coded. Make adjustments if necessary.
- Work with project team to ensure they understand charging procedures
- Develop and update labour budget graphs to monitor cost status
- Take part in the Change Management process to develop and price out deviations and bring to closure.
- Update cost reports with approved Change Management changes
- Support cost studies on as as-required basis
- Update and maintain FD Cost database for all JV costs
- Set-up, update and maintain CMS cost database
- Take part in forecasting of all project costs
- Analyse all information prepared and take action if required. Highlight any problem areas to the lead cost engineer
- Prepare monthly PSR report
- Assist with the compilation of the monthly report
- Prepare all information required on a timely, accurate basis
- Be able to explain all data presented
- Be involved in the project, to understand the scope, current work status, future plans
- Be proactive in identifying better ways of streamlining the work process
- Help others in learning systems and work processes based on familiarity with systems

The role will require key competencies / skills such as:

- Ability to cost code contracts and material requisitions
- Ability to enter and organise data into a cost system
- Ability to prepare reports tracking cost changes, trends and variations
- Knowledge of computerised proprietary cost control systems
- Ability to read and review data sheets and engineering drawings
- Ability to prepare management reports and provide analysis on base-line excursions
- Ability to recognise & assess budget and cost variations
- Thorough knowledge of components of project organisation
- Ability to organise projects: break down structures and Code of Accounts

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Tertiary Engineering or Accounting degree qualification or equivalent experience

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Previous experience on EPCM Projects
