The Company:
Our client is one of Australia's largest exploration and production companies and a key energy provider in both the domestic and international marketplace. They have significant interests in offshore exploration, coal seam gas and renewable energy with a major commitment to safety, quality, and environmental issues.

The Role:
Our client is seeking to engage in a Cost Controller to be based in Brisbane on a contract basis.
As Cost Controller you will be responsible for ensuring the adequacy of the contractor's cost control systems, methods and procedures for monitoring, analysing, forecasting and controlling contractor and company capital and expense costs.
As Cost Controller you will Acts as a support function for analysing contractor cost data and forecasting the project cost.
You will be required to keep the Project Management team informed and aware of any potential project cost changes, therefore it essential that you have excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with various key project members and Contractors.

The role will see you work closely with the cost control team to implement and develop a cost control and invoice processing systems. Working with the Cost, Estimating, Planning and Scheduling team you will aim to ensure the best application of integrated project controls department. Through your effective relationship building skills you will also establish liaison with financial control personnel in order to avoid unnecessary duplication of effort and to maximise the effective use of resources and time.

You will have a demonstrated experience as a Cost Controller on large scale Hydrocarbon / oil and gas capital projects.
Strong technical competence in the area of cost control, tracking and reporting is required and other responsibilities will include:

- Interpreting cost and schedule data for forecasting
- Monitor and appraise project elements for the project owner such as PMT cost and change
- Assist in set up and progress project cost in Oracle or other applications
- Liaise closely with the Project Management team to ensure cost related information including analysis of deviations from the budget is communicated.
- Providing cost variance analysis
- Effective time management and accuracy is required when collecting data for cost measurement
- Support the preparation of the overall cost reporting analysis f or the Project Managers progress reports.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
- Degree qualified in Finance / Engineering or relevant
- Oil and Gas or major capital project experience
- Profound understanding and the ability to read s-curves
- Fluent Cost systems experience such as Oracle
- Solid working history in Project Controls
- Working knowledge of electronic cost control tools, including spreadsheets
- Excellent Communication skills
