The Role:
Our client, a major oil company executing signature oil sands projects in Alberta, has an immediate need for a Cost Engineer on their Project Management Team in Calgary.

** This opportunity is open to Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents only **

Job Function:

The Cost Engineer coordinates and leads for the Project all aspects of cost control and reporting, including project change management, estimate development, cost control and progress measurement.

Responsibilities and duties:

• Provide overall project cost, estimating, progress measurement, and change management leadership and expertise.
• Participate in kick-off meetings with the EPCM contractor(s) and PT to ensure common understanding of cost, estimating, progress measurement, and change management requirements.
• Participate in briefing sessions for project team members with respect to project control requirements and processes.
• Supporting PT and Cost Stewards with ongoing project cost analysis, reporting, forecasting, budgeting and Change Management.
• Develop and document Control Estimates, and Budgets (annual and multi-year), and ensuring that these products reflect the approved project design/execution scope
• Monitoring and appraising the performance of the Contractor(s) in the areas of cost control, progress measurement and control.
• Examine and evaluate the Contractor’s cost control organization, plans, performance and procedures; review and endorse.

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Thorough and extensive knowledge of:
o Project controls principles, theories, and concepts
o Owner Company practices, processes, and expectations with respect to project controls
• Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering / Technology / Business, with 10+ years related experience in the oil and gas industry
• Upstream / Pipeline / Offshore Engineering, Procurement, and Construction experience, experience in area similar to Sub-project preferred
