The Company:
A leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on developing its world-class reserves for domestic and international supply.

The Role:
To develop and maintain overall cost control of the project.
• Prepare and maintain the project cost break-down structure in coordination with work and organisational structures and accounting processes in liaison with the appropriate functions and managers
• Prepare and operate in-house overall cost control systems and cost data
• Prepare and maintain project cost procedures, and provide input to other relevant project documentation
• Provide accurate and timely project cost reports, verifying cost performance against plan, and identifying areas of potential budget overrun requiring corrective action
• Input expenditure data for the project monthly report
• Monitor and review the expenditure elements of contractor performance throughout the contract life-cycle; recommend corrective action where necessary
• Prepare earned value analysis in conjunction with the project planning engineer
• Lead the undertaking of cost risk analyses and support schedule risk analyses
• Work with the cost estimator in the development of project estimates including additional scope and/or variations
• Support internal and partners’ project cost reviews and approvals processes
• Produce and maintain annual budget cost estimates submitted for annual work program and budget approval cycle in conjunction with the finance function
• Ensure project outturn cost data and lessons learned are fed back to internal project stakeholders, for the benefit of future projects

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Educated in an engineering discipline (first degree preferred, HND minimum or equivalent)
• Chartered member of a relevant engineering institution, or equivalent, preferred
• Technical professional with proven experience in cost engineering and with delivery of projects
• Has verifiable performance and delivery experience in a number of responsible project assignments, including cultural or geographical variation
• Proven record in the successful cost control of major oil and gas projects in challenging environments, including management of contractor performance against these costs
• Has a good insight into the market and is able to assess the commercial impact of engineering and project decisions on project attractiveness
Hands on experience of using cost control tools

• Good team player with a pro-active and flexible attitude, and able to work in a multi-cultural environment
• Good communicator able to challenge and influence others in a constructive manner to achieve positive outcomes
• Internationally mobile
