The Role:
Cost Engineering practitioners support and interface with numerous company work processes, such as, business planning, cost control reporting and forecast, resource planning, and project management of change.
The Cost Engineer will be required to effectively use data and lessons learned to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of Cost Engineering (CE) deliverables, such as, Cost Control, Forecasting and Reporting, KCM implementation and maintenance for project controls.
Responsible for the project cost management systems and procedures for the project based within a strategic Engineering contractor’s office. This post is part of a multi-skilled team and the post holder will report to the Project Controls Team Leader and will work within a small team of company staff and contractors providing direct support to the project team as well as the Project Leadership Team.
The post holder will require a high level of competence in Microsoft Office packages (e.g. Excel; Word; PowerPoint; and MS SharePoint) as well as strong communication and organisational skills. SAP experience is preferred but not essential. The post holder will be expected to manage and prioritise their own workload.
Main Duties
- Comply with and administer project cost Management systems and procedures.
- Communicate plans and initiate Project Controls Systems and Applications implementation, including Kildrummy CostManager (KCM).
- Responsible for interfaces with the project controls process (e.g. Project Accounting, Reporting and Forecasting) in relation to Project Controls Plan.
- Responsible for developing and reporting all Project Control data and information as required.
- Interface with project Management Team, client, contractors, Subcontractors, Suppliers and others as necessary.
- Manage budget allocations for project.
- Maintenance of cost records and files.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Finance/Business Bachelor / Master and/or Professional Accountancy qualification
10 to 5 years experience of Cost Control in oil & gas projects and/or industry depending on project size and complexity
Experience with large companies and an ERP system is preferred but not essential

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Ability to communicate clearly and in a timely manner to keep Company personnel abreast of ongoing operations. Proven ability to adapt to a changing environment and changing methods of working.
-Ability to work flexibly with the other members of the project team.
-Ability to organise and prioritise own workload and meet tight deadlines.
-Must be able to multi task and deal with regular interruptions.
-Ability to deal with sensitive issues and challenging situations.
-Problem solving skills.
-Self motivated.
