The Company:
Role:
The role is a cost and schedule technical professional in support of the project development process for large capital investment projects.

Assignment Location and Reporting Structure:
Report to the Cost and Schedule Engineering Section Supervisor and will be located in Baytown, Texas, U.S.A.

The Role:
Become proficient in estimating direct costs utilizing client proprietary estimating methodology and tools. The cost and schedule technician will develop project cost estimates as part of a team or individually in support of all phases of project development from screening studies to project appropriation for capital investment ranging from $20 million up into the billions. This will include the use of clients proprietary in-house estimating tools and computer programs to develop estimates of Direct Costs from Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrument Diagrams, and mechanical specifications. The technician also may train engineers and other technicians in the use of the estimating tools. This role will also be involved in the collection of data in support of performance improvements and tool development.

The Engineering Tech will need to be detail-oriented as the estimate development may involve a lot of data entry. The individual should also like working with numbers and have strong Microsoft Excel skills.

Estimates would be done in coordination with project stakeholders including facilities planners, process designers, project execution management and chemicals technology organizations.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:
• Associates degree or B.S.

Experience Preferences:
• Familiarity with petrochemical industry including general knowledge of plant equipment.
• General knowledge of construction processes in petrochemical industry.
• Strong MS Excel Skills are required. MS Access and Visual Basic Programming are a plus.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Special Criteria: May be required to go on occasional domestic or international business trips.
