The Company:
Our client is a global energy and petrochemicals company who have formed a recent Joint Venture working together globally in the drilling and completions activities that the new JV undertakes in Australasia.

The Role:
As the senior representative of this JV in Australia you will commence as the General Manager Australia and will be directly responsible for QHSE and Best in Class Delivery of the JV’s projects contracted to with the Company's customers. You will be accountable and responsible for management of the day to day field operations and shop activities in Australia while receiving dotted line support from Centrally (China) managed functions such as Legal, HR, Contracts, Procurement, and overall business strategy and planning. In addition to these functions, you will likely be responsible for performing the customary responsibilities of a subsidiaries’ CEO.

As the Country General Manager you will be the JV leader in setting up all aspects of the JV in Australia. This will include, (but is not all inclusive): building shops, renting office space, hiring and training staff, customer and regulator interface, finding and qualifying subcontractors, etc. This organization will have to be built fast while ensuring staff are properly onboarded and trained.

This position will have at least 3 direct reports in the form of a Deputy General Managers of Rigs, a Deputy GM of Directional Drilling and Automation, and a Deputy GM for other Services and Shops/Warehouses.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering and/or Project Management
• Minimum. of 20 years in field operations experience with a drilling service provider
• Substantial senior management background having managed a business unit or region within Oil & Gas industry
• Evidence of a past history working in a multi-cultural environment within Oil & Gas industry
• Evidence of a track record of building an organisation and developing, training and maintaining that organisation's people

As as prerequisite to be considered for this role, you must show longevity with an Oil & Gas global company.
