The Role:
An experienced CP professional is required, preferably with the required CP skills and experience from an Exploration and Production, or Downstream Oil and Gas, company environment. Familiar with EPC/EPCM contracting arena. Position is based in and between Great Yarmouth / Aylsham / Bacton and preference is for the candidate to come from this area. However we will also consider CV’s of candidates who may have to commute. There may be some business travel, but unlikely to be excessive.

Remit may cover all or some of the following:
- Structure and manage contracts and agreements in a proactive manner with the objective of minimising claims and disputes. - Advise and support Project Manager and Engineers on the fundamental principles, processes and procedures to be adopted in developing and implementing contracting strategies.
- Ensure the development and consistent application of prequalification processes, procedures, tendering, bid clarification, evaluation and recommendation for contract award processes and procedures are in compliance with the Client Business Principles.
- Support project team in the negotiation with contractors to achieve the mandated project objectives.
- Prepare submissions for the various Contract Boards, and ensure compliance with procedures.
- Apply the category management process and supply chain management requirements into the contracting strategies.
- Ensure that the approved HSE standards and Goal Zero policies are fully incorporated in the process of contractor and supplier selection and in the subsequent work execution phases. Ensuring that contractors have implemented the standards with the subcontractors.
- Conduct reviews of project contracting strategies, plans, and contract management processes and procedures.
- Support project team in the resolution of commercial and contractual issues with contractors including terms and conditions of contract in collaboration with legal, risk and insurance specialists.
- Maintain a close working relationship with local, regional & Global CP, Legal and Risk and Insurance Departments to ensure the inclusion of the necessary contract management aspects in the preparation of Terms and Conditions of Contract and related contractual documents.
- Maintaining good relationships with business partners, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure commitment and support.
- Develop contracting strategies and tactics for application in differing contracting situations and markets, particularly those with severe constraints on availability, capability and competitiveness of engineering contractors / construction subcontractors. - Recognise the different cultural and diverse characteristics that influence the contracting environment.
- Share best practices, work processes, systems and tools, based on experience.
The incumbent will be a contact point for contract activities, interface with contractors, engage with Project Manager, Category and Supplier Managers, and be responsible for CP activities related to the project contracts.
- Implement robust CP tactics and contract documentation to secure third party services and materials in compliance with schedule, quality requirements and on best commercial terms that fully accounts for all market capacity and capability risks and opportunities.
- Support the commercial delivery of contracts awarded, by developing comprehensive post award contract management plans, ensuring all variation requests are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge, capability and competence in the following commercial, technical and interpersonal aspects:
- Application of contracting and procurement processes and tools. Project contract management.
- Development of project contracting strategies. Analysis and negotiating skills Forms of Contracts and their application. Commercial acumen / awareness. Managing internal stakeholder engagements. Effective communications at all levels of management both internally and externally.
- Be seen as a positive driver in the establishment and management of the contract clarifying strategies, establishing documentation and seeking solutions
- Understanding of CP in a project context.
- Knowledge of project drivers in define through execute phases.
- Creative thinker capable of developing innovative solutions and a motivated self-starter with a track record of delivery.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
The successful candidate should be a team player, able to work effectively in an environment with different disciplines. Be delivery driven, and able to work in a remote location from CP Lead and other members of the CP Projects UK or NL team (Aberdeen UK and Assen NL). Business or Engineering degree, or equivalent experience. Skill with CP professional competencies. Preferred start date 14th Nov 2011, but can be flexible.
